Looking to get a really really cheap weekend away, well cheap as poss ideally for next month. Already had my week away but may take the girlfriend whose not been before. Any advice on gettting a last min deal, what sort of prices etc. Anywhere in Europe although for some reason I know the transfer is long and not loads to board there but I liked Livingo, also if the girlfriend does not like it, at least she can shop there as its tax free!!
The winter is ending and I just did not get my complete fix this season!!

Never really 'got' ski/board weekends.

You spend Friday travelling, two days on the slopes, then spend the Monday travelling back. And all for the cost of a week away. Usually you have to go independent and flight prices are the same if you're goijng for 3 days or 7.

If it's cheap you're after, grab a last minute package deal. You'll be able to get 7 nights accommdation, flights and transfers for £150-200.

If it's more a case of not being able to take the time off, that's a different matter.

What you will have to remember is that the first two weeks of April are classed as 'Easter', so prices for everything will be higher. Still bargains to be had though.

Due to work/family issues, I can only get 1 full week away so I do several weekends. Certainly not as cost effective as a full week but it's better than nowt.

I've found that the cheapest & most convenient way is to put a package together yourself, and go self-catering to the less well known "French" resorts. Accommodation, passes and bars are cheaper and they are usually less crowded (apart from the French school holidays).

3 of us going to Saint Sorlin next weekend. 4 nights s/c in a 2 bedroom appt, flights, boards & baggage, car hire & 3 day Les Sybelles pass for under £300 each.

Also just about to book the last weekend in April in Tignes. 3 nights & 2 day pass for £260 each all in.

Fly in Fri pm, ski Sat, Sun and Mon, fly out Mon pm. That's 3 full days of skiing and only one day off work. It's a lot more effort to arrange but it's a great way to supplement your week long ski holiday. Smile

I'd recommend some of the smaller Swiss resorts like Evolene or Engelberg. As they're really only used by locals they tend to be much quieter than the big resorts and whilst there's not enough terrain to keep you occupied for a full week unless you do the same runs again and again there's quite enough to keep you occupied for a weekend. Also Engelberg has a station so you can travel all the way there by train from I think Zurich airport.
