Well said John.

As for location, I don't mind. I think Mayrhofen was great, cheap, friendly with plenty of riding options.
Last year in Avoriaz/Morzine, we were let down with bad snow, so I'd like to go back and experience better conditions for sure. It's obviously more expensive in general though.
Never done Tignes so can't comment on it.

Throw a few wild cards in there though, how about Japan/Chile/US(Colorado)?

Nah, I dun Japan innit Smile

We could look at trying to get a large place in Mayrhofen, but we'd need people to book well in advance as those sorts of places normally farm out their beds to bigger travel companies. It's always been my goal to book out a 100 bed hotel for everybody, but so far that's proven really difficult.

I'd certainly consider Mayrhofen again though. The biggest bonus was the prices on and off the mountain. Transfer from Munich also way shorter than many of the better French resorts. Sod the coach I think next year.

Keep the constructive comments coming though as the more input we have, the better.

well after experencing my first Bash i can safely say i will try my best to come to the next one.
Mayrhofen was great but the only other resort i have been to was bansko, so i cant really suggest anywhere else.
Although after reading an isuue of WL last year or the year before, there was a brilliant article on greece which looked epic..... would be nice to go somewhere a bit different to the hectic french resorts?
Or what about getting Martymun to sort us out a place in the dolomites? id go anywhere to have that mans cooking again, Ive had nothing like it!

Hello. It was good, the Going to the Air & Sytle would have been awsome with more people there, James was good company so was the bin tramp!
It doesnt matter where you go, its who you go with that matters. I am looking for some new friends Smile - you are all light weights - even you John, 3am - bahhh - 4:30 is where its at. Unlike Nick who managed going out on the monday night only to return for breakfast on Thursday :p
The Rep was alright, I will mention now that my lipbalm I offered Chris was not sunscreen, but you smear on your face as if its is bigboy Smile

The piste's are great at hoff and the nightlife was equally good.

My 2p worth

Did you text Dunx that the bin tramp was a better show than A&S Dave?

That was a really random night! Not laughed so much in a long time.. Oh and I googled it for you - turns out we won the war!

Didn't make the Bash (again) but feel entitled to comment as I intended to go this year and will try again next year!

My experience of various group trips is compromises you have to make on accommodation/food/resort etc are pretty irrelevant compared the fun you have going with a decent like minded group. Been on trips where people have complained loudly about all sorts, but they rebook the following year, so the overall experience was obviously good!

So I don't think there is a need to stress too much about Chalet vs. Hotel, Half Board vs. B&B, etc. Just arrange something reasonably priced in a half decent resort and people will have a great time.

The main reason I didn't go this year was how long it took Outgoing to get all the details confirmed. By the time it was available to book I'd arranged something else. Also I was put off by inclusion of the (optional) Air and Style. I didn't fancy going and it seemed to complicate the travel/transfers - or at least it managed to confuse me. This is not intended as criticism, just honest opinion.

So get a nice and simple trip (preferably to Austria again) ready to book by August and I'll be there!

I was one of those who wanted Austria for this year and was elated when it was mayrhofen. Having been there before I wanted to go back and had a great time. I would say let's avoid the expensive French resorts and go for a cheaper place. Random place Sugestion is Passo tonale? High, snow sure and correct me if I'm wrong but cheaper than France?

One major plus side of Austria if you are driving is that you can avoid the expensive French toll roads. This year with three of us in one car we were able to do it cheaper than the coach option. But not a lot of people chose the driving option anyhoo.

previous years have seen in the region of 100 people Very Happy

dunx and the other scuk guys do a brilliant job - i've enjoyed all the bashes i've been on (three).

i personally prefer tignes as a resort, mostly cos i've had such a good time every time i've been there. but i know it's expensive and somewhat wasteful cos it's sooo big (of course, you could say it does suit everyone cos it's so big).

but i like it mostly cos i could travel there by train.

however, i really enjoyed mayrhofen this time 'round. there was a really good mix of people; the slopes were varied and the restaurants weren't too expensive for dinner, unlike in france (though the spar in le lac did good, cheap dinner-type food).

that said, i'd like to see us all in one venue for the next holiday. if we're all in one place, a half-board option should be available for those who don't want to worry about dinner choices. those who want to go out for dinner can then choose to do so.

my tuppence!

Here's my simple thought....

As a person who went on his first bash this year, i didn't really think it was the place that made it such a fun week but the people, yeah if the conditions are right then a lot of resorts will have some sweet runs and refering to the price point about austria being cheaper i agree with this since ive been to austria a few times now and would happily go there back again...

However personally I am not fussed as long as theres a cool bunch of people (like you guys) going Yes

I think it would be well worth checking out what Zell am See has to offer in terms of accom and nightlife. The range there was huge and had the best variance in terrain for all levels of riders that I have ever experienced (I thought Mayrhofen seemed relatively limited for newbies). If like Nathan said above, it is the people that make it a blast, then provided the resort town itself was capable of offering some bars/clubs, then I think would be great.

As others have said, a lot of the fun of the Bash is the people. And this is where the accommodation can make a difference....

For example, last year, one group were literally miles away from the rest and it meant a taxi if we wanted to go into town or meet up with the others. This added to the £££s and the pain in the backside factor, so half of the time we just stayed in the chalet. Virtually everyone was on halfboard so we all just ate in our chalets/hotels and then inertia set in! Don't get me wrong - the Bash was great and I had a good time, but it wasn't ideal for get-togethers.

This year, we were all within walking distance which meant groups in different accommodation could easily meet up. Everyone in the same accommodation would be fab, if at all possible. The year in L2A when we were randomly upgraded to three chalets next to each other was pretty cool, although obviously an upgrade rather than a planned arrangement.

The studenty-style travel agents just don't work for us as we are mainly adults who have expectations beyond a bed and a bucket.

Otherwise, cheap is good and I love ski-in/ski-out which is why Tignes is always going to be a favourite.

Just my thoughts...
