Hi,
I was just wondering, would it be possible to have a photography section in the forum?
I'm a member of a mountainbike forum which has a fantastic photography section that works really well. The photos do not have to be snowboarding, pretty much anything. Just a section where someone can post a photo and receive some C&C...
Thanks. |

Here is the forum I am talking about... this is a great gallery and I believe a really great way of getting some comments on photos. Even if it may be the first photo you've taken of someone snowboarding or doing anything, its always nice to have someone say:
"Looks Fantastic, but maybe try..."
I know it helped my photography out massively.

Has been discussed before, I believe bandwidth or other technicalities made it not a great idea, or something along the lines of that
I think it would be nice though definitely

Alternatively, you could just do similar things such as this

It would be more than easy to add a subforum for photography, if you all host your own images. With phpBB it literally takes seconds to create a subforum. It's as easy as logging into the admin panel and typing in the name of the new subforum and hitting enter. Bang. Done.
Key point is *if you all host your own images*.
Up to Dunx I guess? |

theres nothing to stop people adding a picture to theres posts, just type in a few words and hit preview and it comes up with a more detailed input box.
However there are restrictions on the size of pics you are allowed to post, about 400x600 i think.
This is so we dont get massive pictures messing up the forum layout,
The alternative is, as a lot of people to, is to add theri pics to flickr or photobucket or there own site and just add the link. |

The SCUK2 forum will host videos and handle pictures better. The full blown gallery will come along later. The thing is, there's so many better places to host pictures and discuss photography if you want it full on and if you have questions, then then Media forum will probably do. When we first launched we had about 15 forums and people hated it.
We won't be launching the SCUK2 gallery until we can add something to it that places like Flickr and Facebook can't do; i.e. some snowboard context.
I'll add that there's no reason why we can't add this forum in a few minutes, but essentially a forum is not the place to post galleries; a gallery is. Similarly, there's no technical issue with storage or bandwidth (and if there was we'd start to use the Cloud for storage). |
