Hi,
If like me your nearly blind but would enjoy being able to see what your about to hit on the way down the slopes then maybe a pair of sportspex are the gizmo for you.
I bought a pair of Adidas Yodai goggles and the prescription insert from gosportspex. Here's how it works, go to the web site, pick a pair of goggles, enter your prescription details and make an order.
What you get:
For your money you get a nice pair of goggles and the prescription inserts (they look like a pair of clear framed glasses without the legs). The inserts have plastic clips that attach to the inside of the goggle down the bridge of the nose. They are really easy to fit.
Using them:
I went to Morzine without the goggles (couldn't see a thing as usual) and then went on the SCUK 07 winter bash with them. What a difference, these things are awesome. The good thing is that the goggle is a one off purchase, if your prescription changes, you can just buy another insert with the new prescription.
Problems:
The only issue I had was steaming up. They did steam up now and again but a few seconds into a run, when the wind was flowing, the goggles cleared up. I never had a full steam up maybe only one quarter of the lens steamed at the top nearer my forehead and as I said, it wasn't a big problem. The goggles also had time to clear when on lifts etc, that was also a good time to give them a wipe if needed.
Conclusion:
Excellent product that I’m sure they can and will further improve in time. Hands down beats the crap that my optician tried to sell me.

PS. No I don't work for gosporstspex and neither does any of my mates or family
PPS. How bored am I at work today?? |

I'll be a first time snowboarder this march. Went and bought an over the glasses goggles from o'neill over the weekend.
It was only £22 as it's for ladies/kids over 8 year old. I didn't know you can do prescription goggles.
but the OTG goggles work out better for me i think cuz it'd mean i can take the goggles off when i need a breather. I'm very shortsighted, -5 in one eye and -2.5 in the other.
It's a pair of Bolle boost crystal citrius. I thought i got a bargain but actually looking online at http://www.outdoormania.co.uk/Product.a ... ductID=139
it works out to be cheaper (only a few pounds cheaper). |
