We now have a dedicated forum for Product Reviews.
However, you cannot create a new review in there directly. Instead you should post your Product Reviews in this forum and clearly mark them with "REVIEW: ". The moderators will keep an eye on posts and if they're constructive, they will be moved to the appropriate Product Review forum: Snowboards, Boots, Bindings, Goggles/Glasses, Helmets/Protection and Technical Clothing. Once there, people can continue to add their own comments to the post as usual.
We ask that you use the following guidelines for all reviews.
1. Please give them an obvious title, e.g. "REVIEW: Burton Hails" rather than "REVIEW: My new boots"
2. Please state the item's cost when new.
3. Please state the year in which the product was available.
4. Please include a picture of the item if possible.
5. Please be constructive.
We don't particularly want people to "score" products - these things are subjective after all - but if you like the product, tell people why and if you don't like the product, then likewise.
Feel free to contact a moderator if you'd like your review moved to the review forum.
If you'd like an example review, check out my review of my Burton Hails.
At the moment, we're just interested in Snowboard Products. We might add music, games, videos, resorts and slopes if it proves popular. |

Let's see how they get used for a week or two first. We already have a Product Review section and nobody ever used it  It wasn't very good (and it's still there for the moment if people want to look at tthat), but no point going over the top if nobody is going to make the effort.
Much of the stuff on the forum is asking questions about products and it does take a bit of effort to actually write a decent review. |

Its not emo pose its me trying to hold the camera steady cos the flash is off =]
and its just the front door open to give natural light, i took the photo through a mirror =]
but i havnt used em yet =[ so i cant review em |

Any chance people can post a poll with their review? Over time this would give a gauge of everyone's impression of the product (as on Amazon, for example!)
Probably best avoided when reviewing Flows, of course |

I bought this board when i was in the White Mountains region in the US, having seriously struggled with rentals due to my size 15 feet. I couldn’t get hold of this board in the UK, even spoke to RIDE’s European arm, to no avail. I was soo excited when i picked it up in Boston, i attached my XL binding when i stopped for ‘GAS’.
After one run, i was in love. The size of the board is big, but it is fast too, and is insanely manoeuvrable for the length. It is stiff, but for my fat arse, that’s a good thing. The stiffness is forgivable, but not too much flexibility i was seriously impressed, but i admit, i am comparing it rentals, and due to my height and weight, i am restricted in boards so forgive my enthusiasm for this particular one. |

REVIEW: 07/08 Burton Bullet 159
Cost £154 in sale (£220 RRP)
Got this board after i had been riding for a few months and bought without ever riding one, however my couson has one and he said it was decent for beginner/intermediate. Rode this board quite abit but only in the domes.
Its an all mountain board and its abit flexible for tail presses but not very poppy for ollies, it rides well and turns with ease. Only problem i have is that the edges came pretty blunt and they dont sharpen however much you use the edge sharpener, but this could well be my edge sharpener (dakine) but ill find out when i take it into a shop.
Overall this board is great for a beginner bigger footed rider, im UK size 11 and its just right. But if you ride quite alot then id suggest getting something abit more advanced as im finding its holding up my progression.

I live and work in Park City, Utah, As a Buyer/Retailer I attended a Demo Day and rode several of next years boards...I thought this might help.
Rome Pusher 1985 - A reverse camber board with Carbon V-stringer technology in the tail = a banana with pop off the tail. Felt a little more all mountain than the Hero. Playful yet with a hint of power...
Rome Anthem SS - An Anthem made lighter than before (similar construction to the Design) with the addition of a Hybrid camber. This means camber between the feet for pop and edge control and reverse camber for the nose and tail for float in powder. It was lively and carvy, but slashes etc became harder as you tend to wash out a little as you try to extend your back foot...I need to try this one again to decide.
Rome Agent - No major changes, the graphic finish was nicer. Main difference seemed to be more pop off the tail without an increase in torsional stiffness. Still one of the best all-round boards, pound for pound!
Rossi Decoy - Nice shape, a bit like the Burton Seven. Tip and tail are stiff, with a softer mid-section...didn't feel right for me, but each to their own. The 'twistyness' felt ok at slower speeds, but on harder snow it felt as though it was trying to twist and lose traction. Nice understated graphics.
Atomic Alibi - Now that they have dropped the Rapture and streamlined the range, there is less to choose from the house of Atomic, but the new Alibi more than fills the gap. A great board in every way, with response when you need it, stability at speed, agile and a blast to ride. Not a lazy person's board though, you do need a little concentration but it will reward good technique-loved it! Beautiful graphics with lots of clear sections.
Atomic Banger - Make sure there is no-one in your way! This is a Boardercross style charger meant for one thing only...going fast! If you hang out with skiers who bitch about waiting for you to do up your bindings, get this board and bitch about waiting for them at the bottom of the hill! Has "Pop Rocker" which is basically a hybrid camber like the Rome Anthem SS.
Atomic Axum- In previous years this has been a freeride board (twin flex version of the Rapture), masquerading as a rail board. Now it is truer to its job description, but I think Atomic went too far the other way. It is now a bit of a noodle, great graphics, but performance-wise, uninspiring...the reverse camber made it pretty insipid.
Arbor Nightrain - The stiffest board I have ridden in a very long time! Built for riding transitions, unless you plan to boost in a superpipe or are an ex-hardbooter, I cannot see why you would buy something that stiff for everyday use. It does grip like poo to a blanket though.
Palmer Platinum LE - Still just a little more expensive than the new Burton Method, and still worth it (just). Super smooth, versatile, fast, flexible nose-to-tail but torsionally stiff...I just wish I had the money!
Burton Custom V-Rocker- Just imagine a more playful Custom. a V-rocker shape and now a mid-wide. Great if you are into reverse camber, snazzy graphics too. Pretty pricey though. There is still be a cambered Custom for the traditionally inclined.
Interesting to see that most of the big B's boards are twin flex even when they are directional shape eg Supermodel, Custom X etc. (therefore easier to ride, but no drive off the tail) Also interesting to see that ALL the Pro models are cambered with directional flex... Hmmmm.

Cost: £415 from twoseasons £370 after SCUK discount.
I just got a t.rice and been riding it all week on the bash.
Yes it is amazing, its is stiff so no shatter at high speeds, and its impossible to catch an edge on it because of the banana/magnetraction, when it catches an edge it corrects itself points straight again.
The magnetraction also helps quite well on hard pack and steep slopes, gets quite good grip.
Mine is the 157 blunt so i did not notice much difference riding on powder, also the banana camber is less accentuated on the t.rice than the banana.
Only thing I did not like about it is that the top sheet is plastic (bean or whatever they call it) so its very very easy to chip it. On my last board the top sheet was fiber glass so I did not have as many chips even if I did put it through a lot more.
Bear in mind that you have to change your riding style as you cannot put weight in the front and you cannot steer with the front foot. I noticed that it is better to have the weight in middle/back. It is a non issue if u carve properly as u put weight in the middle and lean on the appropriate direction. |
