I always end up waiting on others to decide when and where we are going. This year people have been ummm'ing and arrr'ing more than usual ;)

Wanting to meet more like minded 'boarders so I have more people to go riding with, both indoors and for trips to the mountain. Usually go with between 3-8 friends, but how can that compete with 87!!! Gonna be awesome to see us owning the slopes as well as the bars Very Happy

And, as SquishyBG says, it is when I usually go away and for a similar price, with the added benefit of having loads of other obsessive 'boarders to ride and chat with Smile

It being a good deal and being in Morzine was a deciding factor this year.

I also get to:

- Enjoy Dale (Dashie) getting drunk and sticking up for people rather aggressively;
- Watch Nick fail to get on a lift... with style;
- See Paul damage himself in a new and interesting way (sorry Jacks);
- Marvel at how clean Pocket's outerwear is;
- Take some epic photos of a plethora of riders;
- Go too big and knock myself out.

Hurray!

For me it means I get to catch up with friends I haven't seen for a while and spend quality time with them.
It pushes me harder with my snowboarding.I go places and ride in a way that I wouldn't if I was on my own.
This year it also means I get some time with my daughter :-)

This is a great opportunity to meet some new people; especially those that share my interest.

It's been difficult moving away from home and it's not helped that I'm working remotely so I've been stuck in the flat alot - not been able to make new friends so I've been putting more focus on snowboarding and its fantastic community. Fortunately I've found a new job up here now so looking forward to getting back in the office and being surrounded with people!

A little weirded out about coming along on my own as its not something I've ever done before, but clearly I'm not the only one doing this so I don't feel to bad about it!

Great question Dunx!

For me it's a few reasons; most of my regular boarding mates have all said they can't make our annual trip this year, the others were so undecided it was stupid. So I figured the 'Bash would be the ideal place to havea great holiday and meet some people that I can hopefully board with more in the future.
The fact that three of them changed their mind after I booked and booked too just made me laugh (I think the great deal had something to do with that!) Another two want to come too but were toooo slloooww.

Brett - I hadn't thought about that, but I guess with this many people we will own a bar! You dudes looking forward to seeing my awesome* dance moves?

I can't beleive I've got 4 1/2 months still to wait!

Dave

I go because I get to ride with other boarders for a change (other than my old mates who mostly ski), which opens up areas of the resort that they (the skiers) won't ride through (like off piste powder fields.) And after a few Bashes I wouldn't really want to ride with anyone else than the friends I've made on the holiday.

There's always an excellent vibe, great people and the accommodation and food is usually very good value for the money.

As to why it's been so popular this year, I think there was such a good vibe coming off of last years Bash (with people raving about the resort (Tignes); the fresh powder and the social scene) that it's encouraged a lot more people to give it a go this year. If the snow Gods are smiling, it could be an absolute classic Smile

Watching Nick fail the lift was good, the french liftie and his reaction was better.

Haha thats awesome. Why did someone not warn me of what I was letting myself into? I have told him that I am not taking him to a hospital again!

And I am actually thinking of stealing some of pockets clothes this year, will get him drunk then they're mine.

An addiction is best satisfied with doing whatever it is that you're addicted to. I'm addicted to snowboarding. A week away snowboarding should sort me out nicely...for a few weeks.
I've met a few folk from SCUK now and have to say they are awesome people, some are coming, some not. Will be good to see them, and meet new folk.

Mainly, an indoor snowslope, whilst decent enough, just cannot compare to a real mountain. I hanker to be back on a mountain.

Main factor for going this year was location, last year we decided not to go on the bash as it would have been our third year in a row in Tignes (albeit only second year in row for the SCUK bash). Also (it appears) the quality of accommodation in view of price being paid is superior to previous bash years. Will be nice to have a bit of comfort. I just hope StarSki don't regret having 80 odd bashers in their accom.

Loving all the optimism and excitement in everyone’s comments and can't wait for Jan to come round. This will be my 2nd trip snowboarding and my first time solo, was a little apprehensive booking on my own at first. But after reading everyone’s comments about previous years and knowing that I’m not the only solo traveller I just can't wait to hit the slopes, oh and the bars....

So... tell me people, why do you think there were so many people up for it this year as opposed to last?
Economy looking better?
Just because we've got twice as many members?
Other reasons?

Hrmm....why am I going???

All of us at Team Pants felt a bit guilty about winning the quiz twice in a row and decided we'd have a year off last year, so we're back again to embarrass ourselves in new (and probably naked) ways Beer

I get to watch Harvey get drunk and injure himself some more (coaches and ice patches esp)

Brett & Milney - a comedy duo better than any other

Martin - poor poor Martin, always has to look after someone the next morning Razz

Dunx - he's my secret male lover (just don't tell the missus)

Rhi - (makes a mental note to bring more smokes as she's bound to steal a load as usual)

harryCambs - I always feel good knowing i'm not sleeping anywhere near him and that some poor people are going to be awake all week xD

Oh, and BEER BEER BEER BEER SNOW BEER SNOW SNOW BEER SNOW!!!

Think that about covers it all really Smile
