Or perhaps someone here can tell me the differences between the TTT Rocker, the Core Rocker and the Jib Master. Thanks in advance.

yeah the jibmaster and ttt are quite flexy and can be a little unstable at speed as alot of noodles are. but the core is more of an all round stable ride. if you want a copy of the catalogue/ a board then pm me, we are ordering soon so cna add you a board on

Which raven board would folk recommend for a beginner girls board? She's 5'6 and around 50-55kg. She's done a week already but found it really difficult to flex the Nitro board she rented because she's got pretty small feet at a 37.

After looking at the brochure I notice the Jibmaster isn't in there, does anyone know if this is because it is last seasons board now replaced with the TTT?

I'm looking to start trying rails/boxes/jibs and wanted a cheap board to learn on. They seem like they've got a good soft flex for presses. Would the 147 be too short for a 10 stone, 5 foot 6 guy? I ride a 154 on the mountain but was wanting to go shorter as it will mainly be for the snowdome or street if we are blessed with some of the white stuff this year!

Hey guys, Im new to all this. And seen these boards on ebay. Seems a pretty good deal when you include the bindings. Seeing as you guys have road tested these, how do things stand with them.

I understand first impressions were favourable so i was just curious how the held up over multiple outings.

Im looking to pay out for my first set up to throw about for a season or two while i learn the ropes and build my confidence. Will these do the trick??

any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Try the TTT, they're super flexy, really good for jibbing, and the bases hold well on dryslope. personally i ride 158 which is just a bit above my shoulder so i can throw it around with spins and have it small enough for rails. Have you thought about a 151?

Hey buddy,

I ride dryslope 99 percent of the time, being on competitions, training/ having fun with friends or even teaching beginners.

I am quite an agressive rider in all aspects, with kickers etc i try and get as much height as possible therefore sometimes the landings are quite hard! Also when it comes to it, other aspects include throwing hissy fits when I cant land something, and have been seen to just launch my board (angry panda) and it still bounces back.

For the price, i genuinely suggest grabbing one. Or, if you're close to sheffield, we have the Core and TTT range as rental boards at the Sheffield Ski Village.. feel free to come give one a go!

Yeah, think I might go for the 151. Though I'm going to wait until I've got some more protection. As I already have one board its a bit backwards to buy another without having the necessary gear to stop myself from potential injury.

cheers for the advice.

as a suggestion, go for the US market on the back protectors etc when buying.. one friend of mine bought a full jacket back protector for 80 quid, 40 for shipping. in the uk it cost 160....

it depends on what level you are at, the 250's are more for a beginner level, while i would be looking at the 600 for the strength of construction. if you want i have the brochure if you PM me your email?

cheers!

Thanks for the info.

I ended up going for it, and so far i am not dissapointed. Its a hundred million times better than anything i have rented so far and seemed responsive on my first day on the hill.

As a beginner i dont have the experience to say how it compares to more expensive boards, all i will say is that i am happy with it so far. The bindings are the 250s, and sure they wont win any awards but they held up nicely, and are better than my mates bindings who got skinned £150 for them new in the shop. Which is almost what i payed for board and bindings.

We will see how everything fairs in the long run though. If anyone sees me kicking about on the scottish slopes this season feel free to come over and see how i am getting on with it. Will most likely need help off my ass too. lol.

Also, feel free to ask me any questions and i will do my best to answer them in the noobiest way possible. Very Happy

Gave my Mrs the Raven Xplosive womens board for Xmas.

Andy (22angrydonkeys) and Rich sorted me out with it, saved the ebay hassle and got a decent deal.

http://www.minus-nine.co.uk/

Shes had 3 hrs on it doing more lessons and she loves it.

My first impressions from being a complete gear whore is that it looks well made and stands up in comparison to boards that cost almost 3x as much. I'll definantly be looking at one when I replace my board.

Hey all,

Thanks to the persons contributing to this topic, it's usefull information since there is not much to find about raven. I was wondering if these boards are mainly for absolute beginners or also more intermediate boarders that have been boarding for 4-5 seasons?

I've been renting a board every season now, and was wondering whether one of the raven all mountain boards would be a good starting pick since I don't have a huge budget. But I'm a little worried by the lack of information to be found about Raven. They seem a bit of a shady company to me.

Thanks!

I just picked up a Raven to replace my tired 10 Year old Burton Custom. I went for the RVN Rocker which is somewhere between the TTT and the Core with regard to flex.

Shall be hitting the slopes with it in a few weeks time.

It looks very well made with a nice amount of flex.

I will post an update on how things go. Going to be using it for a few tricks and small jumps, I'm not a park guy and spend 80% time on piste.

apologies for the long post.....

I've been looking at picking one of these up also, can anyone recommend which one suit my needs the best...

here's a quick riding history. Started in '96 riding Sheffield Dry Slope, did a season in Canada (Red Mountain) in '99, since then mostly Tamworth/Xscape, Last 4 years a week in Europe. I've been riding the same board that I got in Canada for the last 13 years and its served me well (an Allmountain Sims 155), it's great for powder, going fast and has a great pop but I struggle with Rails and spins of jumps. It's not knackered yet so I'll keep that for off-piste etc but looking for a park board as a
second board. I'm about 5 ft 8" and 60kg so not got much weight behind me.

I've not really looked at boards in all that time so have no idea about current tech, shapes, cores etc. I am happy with my current board though and that's 13 years old so figure anything I get will be newer/more advanced than what I have

is a shorter board better for spins/rails?

been looking at these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Raven-Snowboard-Core-Rocker-147cm-Binding-s250...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Snowboard-M4-Discord-Pro-Series-148cm-Raven-s2...

This link lists the others that they have on offer:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Snowboarding-/21247/i.html?rt=nc&Snowboard%252...

cheers in advance to anyone that can offer any advice

I got a Raven board for my missus from some crazy Polish dude in Edinburgh and it were' (crap which was disapointing. The thing delamned almost straight away so we tried to send it back and the guy was having none of it then he started ignoring my calls/emails so I have given up.

Absolute pony board/company and the dude is DEFO connected to the manufacturer as he has all their stuff on Ebay but he is having none of it, ignoring emails and phone calls cowboy style.

Serves me right I suppose, a lessoned learned but it is well dissapointing, the board fell apart straight away and I should be getting a new one but what can I do ?

Raven gets nil points from me.

I found this thread so useful that I had to sign up and say thankyou for all the information, and maybe ask a little advice along the way Smile

I've just done a week (my first) in Les Arc on a secondhand K2 Access 163. I'm 6'4 and around 210 pounds, and I found it a little skittery as I got up to speed so was thinking of something longer. Been browsing the 'bay and saw a bunch of these Raven boards (along with various other unknowns) and was wondering if someone who knows things (as I don't) could recommend whether it's worthing going for a Raven like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Raven-Snowboard-Sword-165cm-Raven-s2...
or a Nidecker like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SET-Nidecker-Chill-XL-Freeride-Snowboard-165-c...
or if I should take my time, save my money, and buy something more well known? I've definitely been bitten by the bug, but funding it will prove a little more difficult!

Many thanks for ANY and ALL advice!

I wouldn't knock a cheap board if you've done your homework. I have recently purchased the Drake Urban smiley from that same factory mentioned (apparently).

Designed with Smiley reverse camber to achieve new levels of fun. No matter if you’re pressing boxes or buttering, this board will introduce you to riding you’ve never dreamed of before. Detuned for extra forgiveness and ‘‘catch free’’ action. Inexpensive, quality built, and fun for all.

BRAND: Drake

MODEL: Urban Smiley

YEAR: 2011

RRP: $579.00 AUD

TYPE: Jibbing / Park

SIZES: 153, 156, 158, 159

FEATURES: Transitional Sidecut, Impact Base With Stucturn Finish.

SHAPE: Twin

CORE FLEX PATTERN: Twin

CAMBER PROFILE: Rocker

BASE: Extruded

FLEX (1 = softest, 10 = stiffest): 2

I only paid £140 for it brand spanking new.

That's the guy I bought mine from he was £10 cheaper than buying from Germany. I went with him because I thought it would be safer buying within the uky and the item arrived next day.
The boards looks fine and my friend had purchased one from Germany. His looks the same. I am yet to try it out. 3 weeks to go.

Maybe you just got a bad one. But the after service sounds very unprofessional.
