![]() Quarter Slaughter
The Snowboard Asylum are offering sacrifices up to the great quarter pipe at the SnowDome.
[Words by TinTin] Like a raging inferno the 8ft tombstone towered above the quarter, awaiting the willing sacrifice of foolhardy boarders. Which knight of the realm would send Satan back to the burning pit that is hell? So it began the night hell froze over. The format for the first half of the evening, a jam and expression session, with the 5 worthiest warriors going head to head after the break. The action was fast and furious with the likes of Steve Bailey, Gary Greenshields, Elliot Neave, Scott McMorris and Steve Smith. Not forgetting the SnowDome usual suspects Alex Wood and Ben who both impressed the onlookers. Highlights of the first session had to be Steve Bailey’s huge air and Tim Warwood's sweet backflip, all got the crowd warmed up and vocal. The final saw the usual suspects pitted against each other to claim the prize of a devilish $666. With three jumps each there would be little room for error. The main contenders where Steve Bailey and Tim Warwood, Steve maintaining the edge with a huge air on his second jump but in reply Tim threw down another backflip and it was in the balance. So it ended. Who had impressed the judges? Was it Steve with the big air or the technical offering from Tim? After a little confusion, the winner, Tim Warwood. Sponsors for the evening where A Boards, Dainese, K2, TSA and Westbeach. A shout must also go to Si Smith for the design and construction of the tombstone. We're told this could well become an annual event. The Quarter Slaughter event page can be administered by dunx (Dunx), stu (Stu Brass), spencer (Spencer Claridge) and office (Office).
