![]() Snozone Big Air Brit Games
Get ready for the main event of the Summer. Building on the popularity of last years Snozone Big Air and the huge success of the Brit Games 02, Xscape is chuffed to present the ultimate event in indoor wintersports - the Snozone Big Air Brit Games.
Okay so the Big Air wasn't perfect, but the event organiser Rob Cuss deserves a big pat on the back for sheer hard work, effort and doing the job of about three people on the day. They had around 100 entrants with the majority on boards. This meant chaos during the practise session with many riders getting only a single run at the Big Air before the main event. The jump was high up the slope meaning spectating wasn't so fun, but the jump itself was considerably better than the Big Air from last year. Although the take off was a little too vert and favoured the skiers, the landing was much better. As the judges reshaped the jump to keep it safe and in condition, it got lower and lower and by the super final some boarders were able to pull off some decent tricks. The landing was regularly dug over and much steeper and wider than last year meaning no injuries and some stomped landings. The whole table top was also much wider giving riders a bit of slack when spinning and not travelling all the way to the landing. Perhaps much under used throughout the day were the two side jumps that were much more board friendly as demonstrated by the judges mid-session. A few of the grommets were hitting those and getting some well deserved words of encouragement from the judges. The jib session saw cash being thrown down on the spot and we haven't got a single picture of that 'cos I was out there myself and had an encounter with pain on a rail. Rob was there daring people to go further, longer and even slower on the collection of sick rails that have materialised at Snozone recently. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed that and top tricks won the money. The indoor slopes certainly excel at these jib sessions, so we'll have some more of those if you'd be so kind. Hopefully feedback has provided Snozone with a few ideas on how they could improve future events. They are talking to Health and Safety about getting spectators out on the slope for the next event.
