Summer Daze Festival
A full park out all day and night and theAirbag between 5p and 9pm. DJs on the slope and various acts in the SNO!bar.
Saturday 16th AugustDay one of the SNO!zone Summer Daze Festival sees a full on day of FREESTYLE!! And that means freestyle in every sense. From the infamous SNO!park on the real snow slope featuring rails and jumps for all abilities, to the MCing, DJing and breakdance workshops and battles to live graffiti sessions. This day is all about FREESTYLIN’! The line up is not to be sniffed at either, with some of Leeds’ most talented DJs taking to the decks. With a full PA on the slope too, all the DJs will playing a set to the riders on the slope and a set to the party goers in the SNO!bar. Lineup includes Matman (DMC Champion now based in London), T-Breaks (FreshJive), Kid Kanevil (New Bohemia), DJ Sinical (DMC Champ) and Queen Bee and Badly Dressed Boy (both Moor Music veteran DJs!) Plus we have the Queens English hip-hop crew from London performing live both in the SNO!bar and out on the SNO!stage! These guys are truly amazing live and feature one the best beat boxers you’ll ever hear! And all these before we even mention the legendary Haggis Horns headlining the event – they are a live funk extravaganza combining heavy breakbeat funk, soul, hip-hop and afrobeat with the virtuosity of trained jazz musicians. They have performed and recorded with many top artists including: The Cinematic Orchestra, Nightmares on Wax, Roots Manuva, Corinne Bailey Rae, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson! This event will truly showcase Leeds’ talent in the realms of hip-hop, breakbeat, funk, dubstep and more! The UK’s number 1 over 30s B-Boy will be holding breakdance workshops throughout the day!! Then the top breakdancers from all over the north of England will take centre stage and be battling against each other with their impressive freestyle dance routines! There will also be live graffiti from renowned Leeds graffiti artist Women158 who has been specially commissioned to do us a piece for our party room on the day. Plus a host of stalls selling all sorts from snowboard gear, to T-shirts, hats and accessories, as well as hot dogs and food stands too. The main slope will feature a full CASvegas SNO!park, the lesson slope will feature a rookie park for beginners with instructors giving out free hints and tips all day. And if all that’s not enough the AirBag will also be a feature on the main slope so all those crazy enough can practise tricks they’d never think possible!! The Saturday of SUMMER DAZE is co-hosted by the legendary FreshJive clubnight "Mixmags top 3 nights in the country.... the bastion of UK Breakdance culture" Mixmag July 07. Sunday 17th SundayThe second day of Summer Daze is all about guitars! Yes that’s right - from acoustic, to tributes to local bands showing off their skills with a plectrum. Sunday is band central. The slope sees a much more family orientated day, with half the main slope being used for sledging during the morning until 12 noon. With the option to bring your own sledge or borrow one of ours. And taster Ski/Snowboard lessons for all throughout the day for the bargain price of £10 adult and £5 for kids for 45minutes! Plus there will be loads more slope based fun activities for all the family. There will also be free circus workshop for kids of all ages from 1pm-4pm, creative art space, drumming workshops with Phen and the Honeydrum crew and face painting too!! Plus there’s the FREE snowboard simulator to have a go on if you’re not tempted to try the real thing! And Percy the Penguin will be out 'n' about to amuse the younger kids too! The 50fifty bar will feature an afternoon of Acoustic Sessions with many singer/songwriters showing off their talents. In the SNO!bar there will be a battle of the bands at 12noon where local bands have 15 minutes each to impress the crowd and get a chance to win an amazing prize! Then Sunday evening will be host to a night of tribute acts – featuring the Stereotonics, Oasish, Rebel Truce (The Clash tribute act!) and The Sex Pistols Experience. And again the Sunday will have a whole host of festival style stalls and food stands – just like a real festival!! Who needs mud when we’ve got snow!??!
