The Summer Bash is now in it's fourth year and is all about getting a load of snowboarders together in the UK for a weekend of fun in the sun and snow. One minute we'll be paintballing, the next we'll be chilling in a field with beer and burgers hopefully enjoying the summer sun, before heading off to the SnowDome to enjoy the summer snow. Everybody is invited along, whether you're a SCUK Member or not, so come and join us for as much fun as you can handle. We just want to see you there.

Keep an eye on the weather as the weekend approaches!

The Plan

The full weekend will go something like this:
  • Get to the campsite Friday evening for the start of the drinking.

  • Paintballing on Saturday morning 9.30am to 1.30pm.

  • All day music, BBQ, beers and games at the campsite.

  • Adrenalin Tubing 7.45 to 8.45pm at the SnowDome.

  • Boarding 9.30pm to 1.30am at the SnowDome.

  • Late bar to 1.00am.

  • Back to the campsite.

  • Sunday morning. Rise with bruises and hangovers.

  • Sunday, the brave few can check out Epic skatepark in Moseley, Birmingham.

You can read all about the previous Summer Bashes 2004, 2003 and 2002.

Booking

You book and pay for everything separately, so you can join in as much as you want or just come along and watch. Why not bring the kids or hire some for the day?

You book for everything via the Tamworth Snowdome - paintballing, adrenalin tubing and snowboarding. You must pre-book to get the special discounts on the adrenalin tubing and snowboarding. We'd also like people to pre-book the paintballing by the end of June to ensure we get an exclusive session. You can therefore book the whole lot by phoning the Tamworth SnowDome directly on 08705 000011 and quoting "Summer Bash".

Just for SCUK Members

SCUK Members are naturally special, so when you book the snowboarding in advance, you should provide your SCUK membership number to the SnowDome, as one lucky member is going to get a week at Dragon Lodge! Of course it's never too late to Join SCUK.

  • A one week stay at Dragon Lodge in Tignes; any available week you want from October 2005 to May 2006, or even Summer 2006.
  • Half board - i.e. B&B plus 6 evening meals with wine.
  • Return airport transfer.
  • Use of any Option test centre boards.
  • Dragon Lodge merchandise - T, Sweat and beanie.
  • But not flights, insurance or lift pass.

You will need your SCUK membership card to claim the prize on the night.

Camping

We have organised with a local farmer to have exclusive use of his camping field on the Friday and Saturday nights. The campsite is pretty basic, but does has toilet facilities, which is handy.

We'll be based here for most of Saturday, so just come to the campsite when you arrive unless you plan on meeting up at the SnowDome in the evening. We'll have a BBQ going, so bring some drink and food and more drink.

We have been asked to keep the music well down after midnight as we had a visit from the Police last year and the farmer doesn't need the grief. Craig/Shiny normally brings some decks, but cannot say 100% this year whether he can come. If anybody else has some decks they fancy bringing, we have no problem getting a generator sorted for you.

Cost: £10 per tent on the weekend.

Alternatively, lightweights can seek comfort at the Travel Inn across the road from the SnowDome, but you really will miss out on a whole heap of fun.

Paintball

Paintballing

This is booked for a morning session at National Paintball Farms. The half day package starts at 9.30am and ends at 1.30pm. We'll get at least four games in and equipment (including a tasty looking automatic gun), a possibly slightly less tasty burger and 300 paintballs are all included in the price.

Cost: £30 - Booking is directly through the SnowDome.

Adrenalin Tubing

Adrenalin Tubing

A little bit silly, but a great laugh before they set the slope up for the boarding. Launch yourself down the slope at the Snowdome on a huge tyre. There are two sessions available: Saturday night 7.45 to 8.15pm and 8.15 to 8.45pm.

Cost: £5 pre booked or £8 on the day.
There is space for 25 people per session and it's first-come, first-served.

The slope

Boarding

Naturally, we'll be snowboarding and thanks to the SnowDome, this is a specially extended and discounted Fresh session on Saturday night from 9.30pm to 1.30am. Ramps, quarter pipe, rails and snow. DJ and late bar till 1.00am. We'll have the Vermin crew laying out the slope for us, so expect a great range of toys for all levels from box-slider to frantic-spinner.

Cost: Non-members can save 30% by pre-booking i.e. only £19.60 Adults or £12.60 Juniors (alternatively pay on the day for £28 Adults or £18 Juniors). SnowDome Members and SCUK Members pay just £15 Adults or £10 Juniors by pre-booking.

Sponsors

This is just a social thing, but we love to give you free stuff and the following kind sponsors are providing some throw down prizes for the evening's snowboarding. You're just as likely to win something for having a nice smile as pulling a corked rodeo off the Grand Prix.

KT Active luggage

Dragon Lodge

Vans

O'Neill

McNabs Mountain Sports

Etnies

ThirtTwo

Jail Clothing

Oakley

A big thanks to all our sponsors.

As well as the Dragon Lodge holiday, we have KT Active bags, Vans T-shirts, McNab Jnr Squad hoodies, O’Neill zip hoodies, O’Neill jeans, O’Neill Tees, O’Neill board pants, Etnies jeans, Nixon L/S tee, ThirtyTwo Tees, Jail caps and Oakley Wisdom Goggles to throw at you during the night.

Skateboarding

Epic Skatepark in Moseley, Birmingham, boasts a serious park. Although not really part of the Summer Bash, feel free to check that out on Sunday.

Cost: The prices are cheap by comparison to anything else we'll be doing this weekend. £5 for a three hour session or £8 for a day pass. You cannot pre-book this and can simply turn up and pay on the day.

Getting There

Here's the map for the campsite. The campsite is at the end of that grey track and signposted "Charity Farm". We don't have a full postal address, but it's quite easy to find. Zoom out of that map to get your bearings. There's also an aerial shot. Here are some detailed direction:
  • From the M42 - Take the A5 towards Nuneaton.
  • At the 2nd Roundabout go right - signposted Baddesley Ensor (Boot Hill) - B4116
  • At the crossroads go right - signposted Baxterley. The trees partially obscure the sign so take it steady.
  • You'll be at a give way almost immediately - go right again onto Main Road.
  • NOTE - The campsite is exactly 1 mile from this point - watch your trip meter.
  • Follow this through the 30 limit QUIET PLEASE - respect the villagers.
  • It will then open up and there's a white fence either side of the road. A left turn will appear shown as a dead end. There's a handpainted sign for Charity Farm on the corner.

Paintball is about 5 miles from Tamworth and about 10 miles from the campsite. Here's a local map or see Trickley Coppice in this map to get your bearings.

Road access to Tamworth SnowDome is a doddle off the M42. Zoom in on this map to see the SnowDome as the "Leisure Centre". You can also see the train station on the map.

Epic Skatepark is in Moseley, about 20 miles from Tamworth. See directions.

If you're after a lift, check out the No Mates Forum. People are coming from all over the country and we have extended the invite to members of the two other snowboarding forums in the UK at Adrenalin Trip and Gone Boarding, so you should be able to grab a lift from somebody.

Finally...

The Forum Summer Bash is an event brought to you by Snowboard Club UK in association with the Tamworth Snowdome and Dragon Lodge. The event is also sponsored by the letter "B" for bruising bullets, boarding, beats, bravado, beer, BBQ and bivouac. This is a social thing, rather than a competitive thing and everybody is welcome, even if you can't make it for the paintball or camping.

We laugh in the face of rain 'cos we is gonna get wet anyway.

Small print: Remember the Tamworth Snowdome has a minimum recreational standard - this basically means you can link turns, control your speed and you're not a danger to others.

Don't forget, SCUK is also organising a Winter Bash in France in January 2006.

The event profile for SCUK Summer Bash 05 can be maintained by SCUK or the event organisers. If you want a login and password or have any information you think we ought to be displaying here for SCUK Summer Bash 05 then email dunx@snowboardclub.co.uk
