Snowboard UK Huckfest
Another mad night with the boys from S-UK.
Billed as the Huckfest and TSA Quarter Slaughter, the QS looked on dodgy ground as soon as we arrived as the tomb stone wasn't even in place. In the end that didn't happen, but did it spoil the night? Certainly not. Far too many people had made a huge effort to come along and dress up for the circus themed evening from Snowboard UK. Plenty of clowns, ring masters, lions, lion tamers, strongmen and a trapeze artist. The holiday for two, courtesy of John from Dragon Lodge, went deservedly to the pantomime horse. I have no shots of them boarding that are in focus - it was that funny. MC Warwood was in hysterics when they appeared on the slope and went up the travelator. In the background to this silliness there was also some serious boarding going on. The ATV crew from MK were out in force and pulling some silly stuff on the rails, particularly Steve Revill. James Carr and Laura Berry were also on top form, along with locals Alex Wood and Steve Owen. SnowDome's set up was superb. A picnic bench at the top, small kicker and gas pipe at the turn, low rail next to the rope tow, Warwood/Gendle's box, the Burton rail, the Grand Prix, quarter pipe and eventually the tombstone addition with a new paint job courtesy of Drew Roberts. Warwood got steadily drunker as the evening went on and went head to head with Gendle on the traditional olly competition. He was so gutted to lose to Adam that he failed to notice that one of the locals pipped the Gend on the jump. His better half, Jo Brown (looking not-unpleasant as a leopard) commented that he's even competitive over his breakfast and races her to finish his Rice Krispies first. The ultimate competitor. Laura Berry was in no way in line for another board that night and to make sure she didn't win it, she was asked to judge the girls on the box. Cunning. Kat Miller walked away with a new board for her troubles on that particular item. She also left wuth a cold behind as she tumbled on the quarter pipe in her old figure skating costume! Another great night from Snowboard UK and the SnowDome. We think S*UK's editor enjoyed it so much in his dress as the bearded lady, that a cross-dressing theme could definately be on the cards for next year.
