![]() SCUK Spring Bash
![]() Never given freestyle a go? Well, now is your chance at this all day relaxed coached session at Hemel to get you primed for a Summer of riding.
Here at SCUK we want everybody riding more often, enjoying snowboarding and loving the benefits of SCUK Membership all year round. To us, that means a summer of freestyle in the UK. If you can already ride, but have "the fear" of those rails, boxes and jumps, then this Bash is just for you. We'll have rails, jumps and boxes out on the slope all day, with beginner freestyle coaching for those that need it and progression sessions for those that have already given freestyle a go. JOIN SCUK NOW FOR JUST £15! The Spring BashFrom 9am to 11pm on Saturday 1st May, with an amazing all day ticket from Hemel for SCUK Members only.
Relaxed, no-rush riding all day long. Turn up for as much as you can manage. Come and go as you want. The Edge Bar is always open for food and drink. Booking is now open with Hemel either in person, on 0845 258 9000 or via thesnowcentre.com. You will be asked to show your SCUK Membership cards when you turn up, so don't forget them, else you'll be paying full whack. Hemel's normal Friday freestyle session is being held as usual on 30th April, so come along for that too. SCUK Members can ride at Hemel for 10% off the normal price all year round, then save 55% when they join Hemel's own Membership scheme. Facebook event page. Freestyle CoachingBooking closed at midday I'm afraid. Demand has been far higher than we expected and many sessions are fully reserved. We have turned a further ski session in to a snowboard session so these and other places will be available to book on the day. Instead of allowing people to turn up at 9am and book all the remaining sessions, we're only booking available places 30 minutes before the session starts and people who haven't had/reserved any coaching will get priority. If people don't turn up for their reservation, then they forfeit it 20 minutes before the session starts, as noted below, and people may also return sessions they've already paid for because they're simply worn out... so additional sessions are currently available on the day and other may become available, but we expect demand to remain high. Next year, we'll do it slightly differently I think! Getting in to your freestyle is what this event is all about. We have the best two companies in the business of freestyle coaching in the UK with us on this event. Fully qualified freestyle coaches will get you from an absolute beginner to somebody confident in giving freestyle a go. Definition and Maverix will be running coaching sessions all day long. Each session is for a group size of 6 people, will be an hour long and cost just £5 for SCUK members, £10 otherwise. Payment must be in cash to the SCUK stand on site. We'll issue you with a ticket and answer any other questions you might have. You must also have a valid Snow Centre slope pass for your time on the slope. Here are the sessions that we expect to be available on the day, but please check back regularly in case things change. You can register your interest for a session by emailing Dunx with your real name and the session code (e.g. "MAV2-6"). You will need to turn up and pay for the session at least 20 minutes before it starts, otherwise you might lose your place. Skiers are always welcome at SCUK and for this event we'll have some specific coaching from Definition. Both coaches are saying people won’t be able to manage more than 3 sessions in a day, 4 if they’re spread out. We're also putting a limit of 4 in place to allow more people to get some coaching, which is what this event is all about. Any remaining available places on the day will go to people who have not had any coaching yet as a priority. We hope that seems fair. Maverix Freestyle SessionsMaverix will be offering freestyle snowboard coaching all day.
Pre-requisites: 1-Solid 50/50s, 2-Solid airs Definition Freestyle / Performance SessionsAs well as freestyle coaching for both skiers and snowboarders, Definition will be holding "performance" sessions, which will focus on edge control and snowcross techniques. Snowboard coaches for the day are Gav Learmonth and Chris Skinner. Ski coaches are Marc Hickinson and Philip Ringguth.
DEF1-2, DEF2-3, DEF3-2 and DEF-4, which were originally ski sessions, are now snowboard sessions. Saturday's ParkThe aim was to create a beginner friendly freestyle park that would last the whole day, so snowboarders and skiers can give freestyle a go, perhaps for the first time. The lesson slope will become available to us late afternoon, when the park will be expanded and some of Hemel's brand new toys get their first outing... drop off rainbow box and C rail :) ![]() You can view Friday's Park and Ride plan here. 10% Discount in Snow+RockFor one day only, this is a 10% discount at the Hemel store for all SCUK Members. It's 10% off the marked price and the discount does apply to items already in the sale. It's a great chance to grab a last minute bargain or even stock up on essentials for the coming months. Saturday Night Jam SessionAn expanded, but progressive park giving the freestyle newbie in you a chance to put new skills to the test. We'll have a heap of sponsors and lots of prizes to throw down. At a SCUK jam, we give prizes to people having a good time and we have lots of stuff to give away on the night. Many thanks to our partners and sponsors, who are digging deep in to their pockets for throw downs for all. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hotel DealHemel have recently started to use Holiday Inn.
