SNO!zone Castleford's legendary SNO!storm nights have now been tweaked ever so slightly to be an event that will be more focused on the slope and riders.
Friday 11th April saw the first CASvegas SNO!storm of 2008. This year the SNO!zone events crew have decided to tweak this event slightly so the main emphasis is all on the slope! Castleford’s CASvegas branded Freestyle nights have become legendary so the slope side of the event has always been the main feature. This time around though the staff went all out to light up the park's features with coloured spot lights, design a park plan with a creative twist and introduce the Half Way Hut!! The Hut served as a base point for MC Matt Leigh who hosted the event, alongside a DJ stage so the DJs overlooked the slope and become more involved and also a riders' resting place where the ever hospitable CASvegas staff dished out FREE tea, coffee and Hot Chocolates all evening!! There were even Free biscuits for dunking!! How good to you can we be!? DJ Aidan Harington took to the decks first - starting his set with a Hendrix classic was bound to set the pace for the evening!! As the riders arrived and took to the slope it was clear the park set up was going down a treat! With the Kicker/Wall Ride combo being a real favourite for the night! The Down-Flat-Down kinked rail was one of gnarliest features CASvegas has ever seen! By 9pm the slope was rocking, people were starting to take advantage of the hot drinks and have a chill on the slope side sofas and Matt Leigh was warming us up for the Jam Session on the Kicker. The CASvegas girls were loaded up with limited edition SNO!storm T-shirts and exclusive SNO!park Hoodies as well as free slope passes and were waiting for the riders to impress Matt and Damo Doyle to bag some freebies!! Before long the T’s and Hoodies were getting thrown out to all who showcased inspiring tricks and/or impressive falls!! The rookie park saw prizes going to the most improved riders of the night and people achieving personal goals set with their coaches at the start of the evening! DJ Andy CBD played a 2 hour set ranging from hip-hop to indie and everything in between, when Daft Punk kicked in the energy on slope seemed to triple!! After the slope slowed down and the night drew on, a riders party started up in the SNO!bar. The DJs played a more mellow vibe and everyone had a well earned beer, a hot dog and browsed the stalls. Winding down at 1am this is SNO!storm for 2008 – and we’re lovin' it!! Roll on 4th July when the CASvegas crew will endeavour to impress you all once again!!
