Scottish Skier & Boarder Cross Championships
CANCELLED. Aberdeen Snowsports Club will be hosting the top class Scottish Ski and Snowboard Cross Championships at Glenshee.
Updated 28 March: Cancelled.Due to unseasonably warm temperatures and a subsequent lack of snow, the Premier Oil Scottish Skier and Boarder Cross Championships has been cancelled for 2012. Aberdeen Snowsports Club would like to thank all sponsors, competitors and supporters of the event for their assistance and hope to welcome everyone back on board for next year’s event. The proposed date for the 2013 Championships is 2nd & 3rd March; details will be posted on the Club website as they become available www.aberdeensnowsportsclub.org/Competitions Update 22 February: Postponed until April.There is currently insufficient snow cover at Glenshee to run the Premier Oil Scottish Skier and Boarder Cross Championships on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th March 2012 as originally planned. While Aberdeen Snowsports Club are hopeful that there will be sufficient snow fall in the coming weeks the weather forecast for the next two weeks means it is unlikely to go ahead next weekend. All plans remain in place and an alternative date of 14/15 April 2012 has been identified should there be snowfall in March/April. To find out more about the event visit www.aberdeensnowsportsclub.org/Competitions Scotland’s premier Snowsports competition has a new sponsor for 2012 - Premier Oil has teamed up with Aberdeen Snowsports Club to deliver the 3rd Scottish Skier and Boarder-cross Championships on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th March 2012 at Glenshee Ski Centre. Premier Oil plc is a growing FTSE 250 oil and gas exploration and production company with current interests in eight countries around the world. Organised by Aberdeen Snowsports Club and supported by Snowsport Scotland a dedicated team of volunteers are quickly becoming the force in British Snowsports. In this, the 50th year of Scottish Ski-ing over 100 competitors from all over the United Kingdom are expected to descend upon Glenshee and race head to head in an adrenalin and action packed knockout race along a course consisting of man-made and natural rollers, jumps, kickers and banked turns. Aberdeen Snowsports Club’s Jen Surma and Chief of Competition for the event said “We were delighted with the success of last year’s event and were thrilled to run it on our local mountain. Officially voted Scotland’s best competition by Snowsport Scotland, with the support of a great company like Premier Oil I’m sure Aberdeen Snowsports Club can deliver an even greater and outstanding competition.” Nigel Wilson, Aberdeen Business Unit Manager, said “Premier Oil is delighted to support this Scottish snowsports competition and hopes that competitors and supporters alike will make this the most exciting championship yet. “ This year’s competition is going to be bigger and better with top athletes from the British Ski Cross and Boardercross teams expected to attend as well as first timers.
