![]() SCUK Summer Bash 06
![]() Now in its 5th year, the Summer Bash will involve tents, beer, snowboarding and a few other things, plus a chance to meet all the wierdos from the forum.
The Summer Bash is now in it's fifth year and is all about getting a load of snowboarders together in the UK for a weekend of fun in the sun and snow. One minute we'll be paintballing, the next we'll be chilling in a field with beer and burgers hopefully enjoying the summer sun, before heading off to the SnowDome to enjoy the summer snow. Everybody is invited along, whether you're a SCUK Member, SCUK User, SCUK lurker or not, so come and join us for as much fun as you can handle. We just want to see you there.Keep an eye on the weather as the weekend approaches. Current forecast is for a scorching weekend in Tamworth! The PlanThe full weekend will go something like this:
![]() You can read all about the previous Summer Bashes 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2002. BookingYou book and pay for everything separately, so you can join in as much as you want or just come along and watch. Why not bring the kids or hire some for the day? You can pre-book everything via the Tamworth Snowdome - paintballing, adrenalin tubing and snowboarding. SCUK Members must pre-book to get the special discounts on the adrenalin tubing and snowboarding. We'd also like people to pre-book the paintballing by the end of June to ensure we get an exclusive session. You can therefore book the whole lot by phoning the Tamworth SnowDome directly on 08705 000011 and quoting "Summer Bash".Just for SCUK MembersSCUK Members are naturally special, so when you do book for the snowboarding at Tamworth SnowDome in advance, you should provide your SCUK membership number to the SnowDome, as one lucky SCUK member is going to get a week at Dragon Lodge! Of course it's never too late to Join SCUK as you'll save £13 on booking your slope time anyway! ![]()
David Biggadyke (aka Biggy) from Melton Mowbray won the stay with Dragon Lodge. Played Biggy! Unluck the rest of you who were in with a shot. Don't forget to check Dragon Lodge out. It's a top place to stay in Tignes (and I have been there). They'll even give you a SCUK discount. ![]() CampingWe're based in a field at Oak Dairy Farm which is very near Tamworth. We'll be here for most of Saturday, so just come to the field when you arrive unless you plan on meeting up the paintballing or at the SnowDome in the evening. We'll have a BBQ going, so bring some drink and food and more drink. There will be no bonfires allowed this year, but we will be bringing one of those compost/brazier things to let up have a small fire to play our guitars around, bang our tamborines and tell sad tales. On the decks we have Tony B, who many of you will know from the AIM Series, Brits and SCUK Birthday Parties. One of the finest and certainly the most dedicated DJ in the UK!There are no camping facilities at the farm, so we'll be supplying a toilet for us to use. We're talking basic okay. Cost: £10 per tent for the weekend. We'll collect cash only over the weekend. Alternatively, lightweights can seek comfort at the Travel Inn across the road from the SnowDome, but you really will miss out on a whole heap of fun. PaintballingThis is booked for a morning session at National Paintball Farms. The half day package starts at 9.30am and ends at 1.30pm. We'll get at least four games in. Equipment includes a tasty looking automatic gun, a possibly slightly less tasty burger and 300 paintballs are all included in the price. Cost: £30 - Booking will be directly through the SnowDome. ![]() Adrenalin TubingA little bit silly, but a great laugh before they set the slope up for the boarding. Launch yourself down the slope at the Snowdome on a huge tyre. There are two sessions available: Saturday night 7.45 to 8.15pm and 8.15 to 8.45pm. Cost: £5 pre booked SCUK members or £8 otherwise. There is space for 25 people per session and it's first-come, first-served. ![]() BoardingNaturally, we'll be snowboarding and thanks to the SnowDome, this will be a special Fresh session on Saturday night from 10pm to 1.30am. Ramps, quarter pipe, rails and snow. DJ and late bar till 1.00am. We'll have the Vermin crew laying out the slope for us, so expect a great range of toys for all levels from box-slider to frantic-spinner.Cost: SCUK members that pre-book get SnowDome member's rates - so £15 for adults - and also entered in to the Dragon Lodge prize draw above. Everybody else rides at normal rates - so £28 for adults.
![]() SponsorsThis is just a social thing, but we love to give you free stuff and the following kind sponsors are providing some throw down prizes for the evening's snowboarding. You're just as likely to win something for having a nice smile as pulling a corked rodeo off the Grand Prix.
A big thanks to all our sponsors. As well as the Dragon Lodge holiday, we have Vans head-bands, Mambo backpacks, Ruben Tees, O’Neill jeans, O’Neill board pants, Animal sweatbands and wallets, Etnies sweatbands, ThirtyTwo Beanies, Jail caps and clothing to throw at you during the night. ![]() SkateboardingEpic Skatepark in Moseley, Birmingham, boasts a serious park. Although not really part of the Summer Bash, feel free to check that out on Sunday.Cost: Check out the Epic Skate Parks website for prices and other details. Getting ThereOak Dairy Farm is on Drayton Lane in Drayton Bassett, 2 miles southwest of Tamworth on the A453. Here's a map link indicating Oak Dairy Farm (Oak Farm is also on the map, but Oak Dairy Farm is next door). Don't worry, we'll have signs up from Friday afternoon to guide you in. Paintball is about 5 miles from Tamworth and about 3 miles from the campsite. Here's a local map or see Trickley Coppice in this map to get your bearings. The entrance to their car park is through the service station car park. Road access to Tamworth SnowDome is a doddle off the M42. Zoom in on this map to see the SnowDome as the "Leisure Centre". You can also see the train station on the map. Epic Skatepark is in Moseley, about 20 miles from Tamworth. See directions. If you're after a lift, check out the No Mates Forum. People are coming from all over the country and we'll be extending the invite to members of the three other snowboarding forums in the UK at Adrenalin Trip, Gone Boarding and Powderroom, so you should be able to grab a lift from somebody. Finally...The Forum Summer Bash is an event brought to you by Snowboard Club UK in association with the Tamworth Snowdome and Dragon Lodge. The event is also sponsored by the letter "B" for bruising bullets, boarding, beats, bravado, beer, BBQ and bivouac. This is a social thing, rather than a competitive thing and everybody is welcome, even if you can't make it for the paintball or camping. We laugh in the face of rain 'cos we is gonna get wet anyway. Small print: Remember the Tamworth Snowdome has a minimum recreational standard - this basically means you can link turns, control your speed and you're not a danger to others. Don't forget, SCUK will also be organising another Winter Bash in Les Menuires, France in January 2007. The SCUK Summer Bash 06 event page can be administered by dunx (Dunx), stu (Stu Brass), spencer (Spencer Claridge) and office (Office). Page views: 16210 |
