With a huge turn out for the best ever SCUK Winter Bash in Tignes in January, it's only right that we go for a biggy for the SCUK Summer Bash 2009 in July. The Summer Bash is an excuse for a spot of camping fun and a big shred session. Everybody is welcome, whether you're a SCUK member or not. Why not bring your dog.

Win a trip to the SCUK Winter Bash 2010

When we're there, we'll throw all the SCUK Membership cards we can find in to a big bucket and one lucky member will get to come to the SCUK Winter Bash 2010 for nothing*. Next year's Winter Bash is likely to be the last week in January in Tignes and once more hosted by Dragon Lodge. Of course it's never too late to JOIN SCUK as you'll save money on booking your slope time for the Summer Bash and you're in with a great chance to get a free trip to the Winter Bash too!

  • Half board at Dragon Lodge i.e. B&B plus 6 evening meals with wine.
  • 6 day Tignes lift pass.
  • Use of Dragon Lodge's test centre snowboards.
  • All the fun of the legendary SCUK Winter Bash 16-23 January 2010.
  • But not travel, transfer to/from resort or insurance.

*No cash alternative.

The Plan

It's loose and goes something like this:
  • Get to the campsite Friday afternoon/evening for the start of the drinking then fiddle with tent poles and pegs in the dark.

  • All day music courtesy of DJ ROBster, BBQ, beers, skating nearby, footy and volleyball.

  • Adrenalin Tubing Saturday 7.45 to 8.45pm at the SnowDome.

  • Snowboarding Saturday 10pm to 1.30am at the SnowDome.

  • Late bar at the SnowDome to 1.00am.

  • Back to the campsite.

  • Sunday morning. Pack you tent or throw it in the skip and go home.

Booking

You book everything separately, so you can join in as much as you want.

Pre-booking adrenalin tubing and snowboarding is via Tamworth SnowDome directly on 08448 000011 - please quote "SCUK Summer Bash". SCUK Members who pre-book will get the session for half-price.

Camping

We are in the same field as last year. Directions below.

Dunx will be carting along a gas BBQ, so bring carbon-based foodstuffs for traditional incineration. Naturally, drinks are also encouraged, perhaps fruit based... hops or apple suggested.

In an effort to save tents and the field there will be a single camp fire, with no exceptions - this is the only SCUK Bash rule we have. The fire will keep us all warm in to the early hours and act as a focus for the sacrifice of afore-mentioned foodstuffs, beverages and any tribal dancing that ensues.

There are no actual camping facilities at the field, so we'll be supplying a porta-loo. We're talking basic okay – a chance to get to know the "dirty" you.

Cost: This will be £10 per person for the weekend. We'll collect cash only during the weekend.

Alternatively, lightweights can seek comfort at the Travel Inn across the road from the SnowDome, but you will be jeered, sneered and leered at by the hardcore campers who are having heaps more fun!

During the day

Andy (SCUK:passtherizla) will be leading the local skate charge some time during the day.

We'll have volleyball and football nets with us. Somebody always brings a frisbee. Gary from the SnowDome also normally brings his kiteboard too.

Adrenalin Tubing

I know snowboarders are too kool for skool, but adrenalin tubing is fun. Launch yourself down the slope on a huge tyre. Two sessions available on Saturday night between 7.45 to 8.15pm and 8.15 to 8.45pm.

Cost: £5 pre-booked SCUK members or £8.50 otherwise. There is space for 25 people per session and it's first-come, first-served.

Snowboarding

Naturally, we'll be doing more than a spot of snowboarding thanks to the SnowDome, who will host a special park session on Saturday night from 10pm to 1.30am. Ramps, quarter pipe, walls, rails, boxes, pipes and snow for all levels.

MC Tim Sandy will be doing the honours and there will be a DJ and late bar till 1.00am. We'll be hosting impromptu comps throughout the night.

Cost: SCUK members that pre-book will get SnowDome member's rates - so with SnowDome's current Summer Savings that's just £16 for adults! That's half price if you pre-book and you're a SCUK member.

Partners and Sponsors

Many thanks to our partners and sponsors, who are digging deep in to their end of season pockets for some throw down prizes for the night's snowboarding. We'll be adding to the list as they announce themselves.

Getting There

Campsite

We're in the same field as last year.

For those with SatNav, the nearest postcode is B78 3AT on Hints Lane, which is pretty much spot on. Google Map link.

Here's the directions from the M42, Junction 10:
  1. Head towards Tamworth on the A5.
  2. You'll eventually see the SnowDome on your right. Drive past the main Tamworth exit.
  3. Take the next exit off the A5 for the A453/B5404, which brings you to a T junction.
  4. Take a right at the T junction and head over the A5 to a roundabout.
  5. Take the second exit off the roundabout on to the B5404, Plantation Lane.
  6. Take the second right off Plantation Lane, before the cricket ground, in to Hints Lane.
  7. You'll see a large agricultural building on your left.
  8. The entrance to the field is on the left beyond this building, through a gated gap in the hedge.
  9. If you miss the turning to Hints Lane, you'll eventually reach the A51 T junction. Turn around!

From the north:
  1. Come south on the M6 and leave at J12 before the toll and on to the A5.
  2. Follow the A5 for several miles.
  3. Leave the A5 at the junction for the A453/B5404, which brings you to a roundabout.
  4. The first exit off the roundabout is the B5404, Plantation Lane.
  5. Follow the directions above from here.

We will of course put SCUK signs wherever possible to guide you in! Please remember we are guests of the farmer and treat his field with respect.

SnowDome

Road access to Tamworth SnowDome is a doddle off the M42.

Small Print...

Remember the Tamworth Snowdome has a minimum recreational standard - this basically means you can link turns, control your speed and you're not a danger to others. It doesn't matter whether you own the SnowDome or not, you will be asked to leave the slope on Saturday night if you are so drunk you are seen to be a danger to others.

The SCUK Summer Bash event page can be administered by dunx (Dunx), stu (Stu Brass), spencer (Spencer Claridge) and office (Office).
