[By Dunx]

The Summer Bash really is unique. The police could not have put it better when they visited us on Saturday morning, describing it as "a gathering of people with a mutual interest in snowboarding". They were pretty happy that the gathering wasn't some drug crazed rave as reported by some neighbours keen to complain about anything on our host's farm. The loud music was perhaps worthy of complaint, but lewd lyrics on the Friday night? I think not. We saved those for ProDog's rendition of GLC's "Your mother's got a p*nis" in the middle of Saturday afternoon. Mad Dog's parents seem fairly amused. I think we got away with it.

Friday night was a bit of a haze. Many of the shots are a bit fuzzy, with many claiming that's how it really was. The majority had turned out for the Friday campathon and by midnight there were a good 20 or 30 tents pitched around the field.

Saturday morning, people were dragged out of various states of drunkeness and carted off to the paintballing. Expecting another farmer's field, I was surprised to find the place was rammed with some 300 paintballers, some with automatic weapons and smoke grenades. Anyway, much mayhem and the only real relevent point is that my team won - up the purples! Comparing bruises was top fun for Saturday afternoon, with SSgt Jonny Freeride taking that title by a huge margin.

By the time we got back to the campsite, the police had gone, but the Scottish crew had arrived. The BBQ was in full swing and Shiny was back on the decks aided by eightseventhree and ProDog. I think we were probably up to around 60 people by this stage - drinking, smoking, comatose or getting various levels of enjoyment from frisbees, kiteboarding or riding the "piss bike" into nettle bushes (WTF Trilby?) as the music pumped on.

Early evening, people started to drift off to the SnowDome. They'd put on a great park for us, but first a few of us braved the tubing. That's a laugh. ProDog did sterling work as MC and was joined by Ash Strain (ex of DCMT) to give away the box of goodies. The radio mic even survived this year. We had some great gear from thirtytwo and $yndicate to give away, plus a few bits and bobs from our own Shop. Many thanks to our sponsors there. The best prize of the night however, was a demanté decorated Flow wife-beater courtesy of my recent world championship victory in MK's halfpipe. Assembled masses had to race me down the slope to win. I tell you, I had to put in a few extra turns just to make sure I didn't go home with it myself. The SnowDome chucked us out at gone 1a.m. and everybody made their way back to the field, for more drinking and slightly more subdued tunage.

I got up early Sunday and the camper ambled home at 80 mph for another party at my pad, having had a total of 6 hours sleep all weekend. I did my best to stay alert and finally crashed at 2am, only to be reminded the following morning that we had more people for dinner on Monday. Grim!

What makes this all unique is the way it's organised. Gary Baker at the Snowdome sorted the world-famous SnowDome hospitality and the paintballing. Danny Warren sorted out the field for us. Craig Fearnley brought his decks and a generator. I got some words together, borrowed my dad's BBQ and sorted some prizes. The Forum really is a great community effort. Special thanks to everybody who helped out, but extra huge thanks for everybody who turned up and made the Forum Bash what it was. Roll on!
