Overboard Rail Jam 2005
![]() The End of Season bash.
Every time I go to Tamworth for an event they have a great setup, but the recent introduction of rider-driven slope layouts has seen Vermin member Stu and his team mixing it up, trying a few new ideas and creating some real progressive layouts. Saturday's Overboard was no exception, and along with some event specific layout, the slope was a real treat for all the jib monkeys. At the top we had the Vermin Barrel - an oil drum for ollieing, small kicker, rainbow rail, gas pipe, Burton Black Metal flat down, Vermin box, Burton Black Metal S rail, Grand Prix and of course the quarter pipe. Who could ask for more? It was a busy night too. Reception said there were 109 people on the slope and that's a good number. It's more than we've seen at an event at Tamworth for some time and down to the all inclusive throw-something-down nature planned for the evening which saw nobody left out. Despite the numbers, the only real queues were for the Grand Prix and flat down, especially when those were the subject of the mini-comps that took place throughout the evening. So, no queues for uplift, no waiting at the top and plenty of space to hit one or two things on the way down if you weren't interested in the big stuff. A great night for all levels, so much so that I rode all night and had my best time indoors for several months! The SnoPirates.com crew did a great job and the seemlingly endless supply of goodies saw just about everybody walk away with something, from a T to fine SCUK Memberships. All this made for a fantastic atmosphere, which sees Tamworth still reigning, for me at least, as the best park in the land. Time to get a shorter board I think and make the trip more often. [By Dunx] Official ReviewWow what a night! We had 110 boarders riding from all over the place including Southampton, Portsmouth, Essex, Milton Keynes, Coventry, Northampton, Nottingham, Leeds, Telford, Tamworth, Birmingham to name just the ones I know of! In fact, whoever can prove they travelled the furthest to get to the gig wins a t shirt courtesy of Subvert. So back to the riding – there were some sick dudes showing what they could do on so much equipment it was amazing – well done to all of you boarding nutters for making the night special. Chicks and guys were riding well. Also, a big shout out to Steve and Steve from ill-eagleboarders – didn’t they do well in hosting and MCing the show? They looked shattered handing all of that gear out and pumping the crowd. So many people went away with something from the night – well done ill-eagleboarders. Also some of you may have seen them base jumping to a gathering crowd outside the dome – monster! Those guys are unreal – so much energy! They brought along some awesome skiers – the one lad was wacking the q-pipe as though it was on fire – did anyone else see the air he was getting? So back to the event – there’s too many good riders to name. Check out the SCUK gallery page for links to some shots from the night including the brilliant pictures young Danny Warren’s taken. If you’ve got any of the night that can beat these, please email them to snopirates@hotmail.com Pirate Treasure Chests! We wanted to give all attendants to the rail jam a fair chance to win some awesome goodies, so we bundled some great stuff together in to a ‘treasure chest’ and have asked for people’s names and email addresses on a clipboard. For those of you who are cheeky to put your name in more than once we will only be entering the email address once into the draw.
