![]() Jiberish and SCUK Christmas Bash
Jiberish, sponsored by Subvert, will be showcasing the best DJs from Leeds with everyone's favourite mix of music, and a legendary freestyle park that the boys at Xscape Castleford are known for. We're also joining them for the official SCUK Christmas Bash.
On Saturday 11th December 2004, The Real Snow Slope, Xscape, Castleford will play host to, arguably, the greatest indoor freestyle event the UK has ever seen! You’ve tried the rest, now go to the best! Jiberish will be offering you the privileged opportunity to ride one of the best freestyle parks in the country and on real snow! Tunes on the slope and in the bar will be supplied by some of the best DJs Leeds clubs have to offer, playing a mixture of hip hop, funk, soul and classic rock. Sponsorship from Subvert Board Store will leave you wondering how they are still in business after giving away such fantastic prizes! Previous prizes have included Nixon watch, FourSquare jacket, Grenade Gloves and much more. The Snowboard Club will also be there and we're sponsoring the "worst dressed rider" competition, so dust off those one-pieces. We'll also have a bunch of prizes for the raffle. If you still haven’t decided your set up for this season, fear not, TSA will be rocking up with some of this season’s finest for you to test out. Boards and bindings will be available to test from the TSA tent next to the slope at no cost to your good self. If freestyle ain’t your ting (or you need to stop punishing your body in the park!) and you’re over 18, there’s plenty going on in the bar. DJs, raffle (profits in aid of Sanjay Nagar Leprosy Rehabilitation Project), food and plenty of drinks promotions will be on offer and will get you wishing there was an event like this on every week! In the mean time here is an insight into the aural pleasures available on the night: Noah – ‘Bringing the hiphop, funk and soul will be New Bohemia’s very own sleep groping sex pest’ (his own words!) In his pre-sex pest days Noah could be seen playing at Subtub (Manchester) alongside the likes of Craze, Grooverider and Roots Manuva, as well as a couple of Snowbombing outings. He has recently returned from a years tour of the US snowboard world where he deejayed at the Red Bull Huckfest and Heavy Metal, US Nationals and was a warm up DJ for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers at the World Snowboard Grand Prix!! Now safely back in Leeds he can be seen stickering up the city with pictures of a little afro kid in order to promote his latest venture New Bohemia. Jim Young – Welcome the first Jiberish resident!! Jim has been around Leeds for a few years now, appearing here, there and everywhere! From a techno background we have managed to wean this boy into the hiphop way of thinking, so expect some proper dope joints! Since running the premier techno night in the North, Tekfresh, he has since been spotted taking on the residents at Technique (Leeds Best Club Night 2004), various bars and clubs with his friends at C-Side Trax and his annual appearance at the Unity Day shenanigans. Werd. Mr Bit – A New Bohemia regular, Mr Bit has been playing with the finest DJs there such as Spinbad, Fingathing, and Bugz in the Attic. In association with First Word Records, New Bohemia, weekly at The Faversham, offers ‘head nodding hip dropping, funk, soul, hiphop, reggae, beats, breaks and all things nice’. That’s exactly what to expect from this fella. His funky hip hop style is guaranteed to get the crowd going and in his bag of records is a party waiting to happen. Denim Demon - Keepin it Proper/North Bar. This lad knows what he likes and likes what he knows! His (carrier) bag of records screams classic 80s rock. Get the air guitars out, clad yourself in the tightest 501s and the leathers, park your bike outside and brace yourself for some ‘proper’ rock. If the rock aint proper then it’s probably some hick style hillbilly cover that he found lurking somewhere! Fun waiting to happen.
