Aviemore Jam Session
Lesley McKenna’s Unofficial Olympic Farewell Party
T&T soft-drinks - sponsors of Lesley McKenna and Alain Baxter are hosting a Snow and Skate Jam in Aviemore on Saturday January 28th. With Aviemore being the hometown of many of our Winter Olympics medal hopes, T&T want to throw an all day event and party to see the Olympians off to Torino. As Lesley explains: “I thought it would be a great idea to have a relaxed all day jam in Aviemore – just like we used to have back in early 90’s - before heading off to the mayhem of the Olympics. We want to have a great big party to remind ourselves just why we got into snowboarding in the first place”. The Snow Jam will take place on the Ptarmigan piste at the top of the funicular. As well as the jam format competition, there will be a BBQ and beer, DJ's, demo tents, and Free T&T. There will also be a memorial trophy for Gus Gillard. The Snow Jam will take place from 11.30am until 3.30pm (approx). Around 6pm, The Winking Owl Pub in Aviemore will host a skate jam with a street course being specially built to suit all competitors. It’s a jam session so anyone can have-a-go. Following the prize giving for the day’s events, there will also be DJ’s and film screenings. To enter the competitions, entrants must produce a T&T - full or empty – which can be bought from local snowboarding shops (e.g. North 57 – Aviemore, Mountain Sports – Elgin, Boardwise – Glasgow and most Londis retailers. T&T will be around on the day so don’t worry!) All proceeds from Scottish T&T sales will go back into supporting local snowboard initiatives. If adverse weather conditions close the funicular, then the jam session will be an all day-er at The Winky (Winking Owl) in Aviemore. Fun and games with wicked prizes ensure this will be one madness filled day.
