![]() Huckfest
Once again, the yearly Snowboard UK Huckfest will hit the slopes of Tamworth. Normally a night to remember.
I had a great night at the Snowboard UK Huck/Chavfest. The slope was set up right and proper with a heap of the Burton Black Metal rails out and Burton (UK) themselves in attendence to make sure we all did good things. Although a few good people had chaved up, there wasn't too much in the way of fancy dressage, so the holiday from Chalet Sapins was decided on a classic longest olly competition. I was in the lead for a while, or at least until the second person had a go, although a later attempt did get a "not bad for somebody who spends all his time in front of a computer" from MC Tim Warwood, so a moral victory even if no holiday. 43 year old Tim Sandy was in the lead for much of that, but in the end it went to Steve Owen who had just popped in on the way to work and was riding Tim's goofy board regular having just spun the bindings around! The place was hardly buzzing, but plenty of prizes were being dished out and there was a great atmosphere as always at Tamworth. Another game Warwood organised later on was a challenge on the box slide. Somebody had to do a front-side board slide and then anybody else had 30 seconds to do another one, before the clock started again. The last person to do it before the clock ran out would win a big prize. Great idea. Boards also went to winners of the ladies and then gents Chinese downhill race, where you all start at the top of the slope sitting on the ground and the first person to the bottom is the winner. Sitting on your board doesn't really help I found, but might well be safer and just as much fun. This event was SUK editor Tom Copsey's last official duty as he's now off to Onboard. We hear that ex-SUK section editor Marcus Chapman is coming back from Australian Snowboarder to take on the role, to leave Ewan Wallace as Deputy. Well played to Snowboard UK for the evening and thanks to all the sponsors and of course riders who made it a cracking night.
