Gorillas on the Piste
The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund is looking for fun-loving skiers and boarders who are willing to dress in a full gorilla costume (which they can keep afterwards) to complete between them 100 miles of real snow piste in just 1 hour.
By Rebecca Guinea at the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund The day was a tremendous success. In the end we had 58 skiers and boarders. So far they have brought in over £5,000 for the charity but there's still lots of sponsorship money due in too. At the moment, the average sponsorship is coming in at £177, so it looks as though we'll hit (and maybe exceed) our £10k target. The standard of skiing/boarding was pretty good considering the disabling qualities of wearing a gorilla suit and mask... but I did see some pretty hilarious pile ups (one involving two gorillas in ballerina tutus). Xscape were a dream - they organised everything for us on the day and were SUPERB especially considering that they did all that for free!
