![]() Forum Summer Bash
The Boarder and the UK Snowboard Forum strut their funky stuff on the lakes and slopes of Tamworth. All invited to join in.
You really like boarding eh? An afternoon's wakeboarding with beer, burgers and beats. A stint on Tamworth's Adrenalin Tubes. Three and a half hours of the Snowdome's Fresh snowboarding only ramp night. Crashing in a tent near a lake. Skateboarding at the Epic Skatepark. Sounds terrible. Last year's event was really bad and people had no fun. See last year's review and gallery. This year's event is along the same lines, but this time with the addition of some serious skateboarding. We may even have one of the SnowDome's ramps at the lake for some BMX action. Whether either of those will make the event any fun, only time will tell. You book and pay for everything separately, so you can join in as much as you want or just come along and watch. Why not bring the kids or hire some for the day? The weekend will go something like this:
This is largely an event for the UK Snowboard Forum, but absolutely everybody is invited along for the fun. Wakeboarding![]() A hugely amusing 30 minutes wakeboarding (including wetsuit hire and tuition if required) behind or next to a Nautica boat thingy. This is open to complete beginners and is very similar to snowboarding, except that the next day your arms won't work any more. Everybody should be up and at it after about 5 minutes tuition and verbal abuse from the shore. The lake generously provides free sarcasm in the form of Captain Keith Birdseye the boat driver. Cost: £25. You must pre-pay and book a 30 minute slot with West Midlands Water Ski Centre on 01827 874404 quoting "Forum Summer Bash". We have the lake block booked on Saturday from 11.00am to 7.00pm with two boats. There are 32 places reserved and it's first-come, first-served. If demand is high then additional morning places can be booked. The SnowDome also hope to bring along one of their ramps to the lake. Just in case anybody fancies launching themselves into the lake on bikes. Watch this space. Adrenalin Tubing![]() Something a bit different before they set the slope up for the boarding. Launch yourself down the slope at the Snowdome on a huge tyre. There are two sessions available: Saturday night 7.45 to 8.15pm and 8.15 to 8.45pm. Cost: £5. You must pre-pay and book your session at the same time as the boarding below to get the discounted rate. Room for 25 people per session and it's first-come, first-served. Boarding A specially extended Fresh session at the Snowdome on Saturday night from 9.30pm to 1.30am. Ramps, quarter pipe, picnic benches, rails and snow. DJ and late bar 'til 1.00am.Cost: £20 for non-members or £15 for members. You must pre-pay and book for this discounted rate on 08705 000011 quoting "Forum Summer Bash". There should be no problem with numbers. So basically 30 minutes tubing and 3 1/2 hours of riding costs just £25 for non-member or £20 for members. This is even better than last year's offer if you're a member... Your MC for the evening will be ProDog.Skateboarding Epic Skatepark in Moseley, Birmingham, boasts a serious park. We'll be checking it out on Sunday.Cost: The prices are cheap by comparison to anything else we'll be doing this weekend. £5 for a three hour session or £8 for a day pass. There is no need to pre-book. Entertainment and AccomodationSaturday at the lake will include use of the lake's BBQ as part of the deal. Bring baps, burgers and beer. The lake have also got their own bar in their spangley new club house, in case you run out. We should have our patented "DJ in a VW" for the wakeboarding courtesy of our man DJ Shiny. He might also be joined by Cypry and others. Get in contact with Shiny if you have some vinyl you want to spin. There will be the usual loud tunes at Tamworth Snowdome. Overnight camping at the lake is £5 per tent. There is no need to pre-book. Bring a tent and something/somebody to sleep on. Lightweights can seek comfort at the Travel Inn across the road from the SnowDome. Getting ThereRoad access to Tamworth is a doddle off the M42. See the map showing the SnowDome as the "Leisure Centre" and also the train station. The lake is 5-10 minutes drive from the Snowdome. See directions. Epic Skatepark is in Moseley, about 20 miles from Tamworth. See directions. If you're coming a long way, then an Apex train fare is probably your cheapest option. These need to be booked a few weeks in advance and group discounts may also be available. Tamworth station is a short distance from the SnowDome. Alternatively, try to scrounge a lift from somebody on the Forum. WinnablesThis is just a social thing, but to up the ante we're calling in all favours to get a box of goodies to throw down on the slope. Finally...![]() ![]() The Forum Summer Bash is an event brought to you by TheBoarder, the Tamworth Snowdome and the letter "B" for boats, boarding, beats, beer, BBQ, bivouac and bruises. This is a social thing, rather than a competitive thing and everybody is welcome, even if you can't make it for the lake or camping. We laugh in the face of rain 'cos we is gonna get wet anyway. Small print: Remember the Tamworth Snowdome has a minimum recreational standard - this basically means you can link turns, control your speed and you're not a danger to others. The Forum Summer Bash event page can be administered by dunx (Dunx), stu (Stu Brass), spencer (Spencer Claridge) and office (Office). Page views: 7583 |
