 English & Welsh university Snowsports Championship
The first time the event has been held on snow, for University skiers and boarders.
Time: 3pm onwards As you are probably aware, it came to the attention of the British Universities Snowsports Council (BUSC) last year that English and Welsh Universities (with the exemption of BUDS and the Kings Ski Club Race Series) lacked competitive artificial slope racing. Following the success of last years event organised by the Bristol BUSC committee, the continuation of the event has fallen upon myself (Ali Hills), Baden Knifton and Paul Hothersall. Our aim is to make the 2003 event into a mini-BUDS and we hope that as many students as possible; racers and spectators alike, will attend. The race format will be similar to BUDS and as a result we expect the level of competition to be very high. Events will include individual and team events for skiers and boarders, Big Air and Slopestyle. We believe that Milton Keynes is the perfect venue to hold such an event, with a ready-made 20 ft kicker and slope-style complete with rollers and rails. Prizes will include trophies, holidays, ski’s and boards and we will be hiring a dj system for the event, and have organised some on-slope bar promotions to keep the party atmosphere pumping. The after party will be held in Oceana nightclub, where we have managed to attain cheap tickets. The event will be an excellent opportunity to meet up for a post-BUSC party.
