Ski Everest 2008 - Charity Event

How would you like to spend time skiing or snowboarding on real snow at SNO!zone Scotland and help raise money for Cancer Research UK or The Ayrshire Hospice?



Details


The challenge is to ski or snowboard the equivalent height of Mt Everest (29035ft/8850m) and is open to competent skiers/boarders who are 14+ years.

Fancy dress is optional but so much fun!!!!!

2008: The year of the Beijing Olympics and on 8th May the Olympic torch was lit at the top of Everest. So to mark your final run there will be symbolic torch run to celebrate those who survive cancer and pay tribute to those who are touched by it.


Registration for this event is £25 and you are required to raise a minimum of £75 sponsorship money for either:

Cancer Research UK or Ayrshire Hospice

Additional Information


  1. Please remember all sponsor money will be due on the day of the Ski Everest 2008 and all cheques should be made payable to your nominated charity: The Ayrshire Hospice ORCancer Research UK
  2. Equipment – skis, boards, boots and poles – will be provided for everyone free of charge and you are also welcome to bring your own gear.
  3. The temperature in the Sno!zone will –5°C so please wrap up well. Warm clothing can be hired at the venue for £5 per outfit (jacket and trousers) but please remember to bring your own WARM SOCKS and GLOVES (Gloves must be worn on the slope and if you do not bring a pair you will need to purchase them from the hire desk - £10).
  4. There are dedicated changing rooms, including showers and toilets plus lockers for your convenience (£1 – non-returnable) within the Sno!zone facility.
  5. The uplift at Sno!zone is by button drag lift (Poma).
  6. On arrival you should register at the Conference Room which is situated on the right in front of the Sno!bar on the first floor in Xscape. You will be given your Ski Everest 2008 number, lift pass and coloured bib - this will match the colour-coded member of Ski Everest 2008 who will count your runs at the bottom of the slope!
  7. Your starting time will be sent to you 7 days before the Ski Everest 2008 date and you should arrive no later than 90 minutes before this to allow for registration, clothing hire and fitting of your ski/board gear. Ski Everest 2008 (45 runs) should take between 3 to 4 hours to complete. Please remember THIS IS NOT A RACE, do not compromise your own and other’s safety during this Ski Everest 2008 by skiing/boarding too fast and remember you must be in control at all times.
  8. Anyone wishing to photograph or video (inc camera phones) in the Sno!zone will require to complete a Disclaimer Form. Please complete at Registration.
  9. Spectators will NOT be allowed on the slope but can watch the Ski Everest 2008 from the outside balcony at back of the Sno!bar and through the panoramic windows in the bar area.
  10. Remember this is a tough challenge and a certain degree of fitness will be required to complete. So start your training to ensure you have an enjoyable day out at the Sno!zone!


At the end of your Ski Everest 2008 you will receive a well deserved Certificate of Completion as a thank you from us for taking part and raising money for your nominated charity.
