This is the largest event of its type in the world, with over 650 student competitors last year, involved in a full spectrum of events ranging from traditional race disciplines through to more recent freestyle competitions. The event also attracts a lot of supporters as well, coming from the universities in attendance and from Edinburgh itself.

We are aiming to improve numbers this year to over the 1100 in attendance at last years event, this is going to be achieved through promotion lines around the country and in Edinburgh itself in the lead up to the event. To keep spectators interested and involved through out the two days watching, Scream Bars will be running the bar with corona running separate bottle bars around the slopes, this will mean cheap drink prices for anyone. There will also be plenty of crowd give aways during the two days.

Competition

This year features a full spectrum of events competed for by over 650 students. There are the traditional events such as Slalom and Giant slalom, all the team racing including a team board parallel slalom that BUSC runs to find the best university and then all the freestyle disciplines are catered for with the exception of the half pipe.

As well as the student competition we will be running a Pro/Am big air, using riders from our sponsors, local riders and hopefully attracting riders from all over the UK for the chance to win. The Pro/Am has become an established event on the industry calendar now, and is attracting more riders every year. The final has become the show case of BUDS over the past two years, with the final finishing on the Saturday evening with great crowd support.

The Friday Night (12th November)

This year we are making a big thing about the Friday night in Edinburgh , Committees have always tried to get everyone together on the Friday night but never really made anything special out of it. This year we have got the perfect venue in which to showcase the new musical face of BUSC, it is set up for live music, allowing us to put some of the music from the BUSC:Out… tours on for people who haven't yet experienced it or really want to hear it again. We have chosen a place called The Venue; it has three floors, a capacity of 850 and is one of the premiere live music venues in Edinburgh .

This party will allow us to show the members who couldn't or didn't go to the music tour what they missed out on and what to expect in the future.

The night will start in the TRON Scream bar in the city centre for warm up drinks then Corona will be running their open top bus to the Venue for BUSC members and VIP's.

It is set to be one of the Biggest BUSC parties held in the UK for a long time, attracting everyone competing and attending BUDS and people from Edinburgh who want to be part of the best night in town.

The Saturday Night (13 th November)

This is the final event of BUDS, a black tie dinner for up to 600 people plus 200 people with Gatecrasher tickets, followed by the prize giving for the competitions, a live band and a chance for everyone to celebrate winning or just competing or surviving two days of spectating. This year Scream bars will be running the bar; there will be table football machines, x box game stations and Corona bottle bars to keep all members involved through the night.

DJ Competition

Ran through the web site a competition for DJ's. Members would enter by sending in a 20 minute mix of their skills to the BUSC office, six would then be chosen to perform at the slope on the Friday. We hope that this competition will encourage some of the extra talents BUSC members possess to come to the floor.

The winning DJ will then be allocated a small slot at the Friday night party, a major slot at the Saturday night party and the chance to come out to the Main Event to play a few sets through the main week. We would want to make this a focal point of the Friday session, hoping that the music will push on the competitors in the big air qualification to throw down some big tricks and create a DJ that the crowd associate with over the year's events.

The British University Dryslope Championships event page can be administered by dunx (Dunx), stu (Stu Brass), spencer (Spencer Claridge) and office (Office).
