[From Burton]

Saturday night saw Tamworth Snowdome play host to the final Burton Black Metal rail jam. The slope was littered with rails, from past and present. The black metal rails were set up in the form of a flat down, 2 sections flat and 1 down giving the possibility to gap the last section, leading into the modular C's which were present in an S format, 11 metres of perfectly formed steel, the first in the UK and thanks to the design skills of Hamish McKnight.

Tim Warwood was present as the MC, his skills for debauchery on the mike are up there with the level of the riding, and he was there in full leather jacket and bandana attire, and probably a hoarse voice today. Metal blared out on the stereo system and set the tone for the evening, albeit to the dismay of the reception staff.

The action kicked off on the flat down, with strong riding from the ATV crew, all in attendance and killing it as a whole. Steve Revill with super clean barleys, James Carr with his easy style frontsides and tail slides to frontside and Chris Chatt with a 50-50 to 180 gap over the kink. There was a lot of combo action and other mention goes to Mike Austin, Matt Nielson for their smooth riding.

Tim set the challenge to frontside the S with everyone collectively going for it, Johnny Kirkham and Johnny Russell set to it and came tantalisingly close, James Carr translated his smooth style into the S with a couple of lazy boardslides to 270 out.

Chris Chatt was hailed the winner with a clean line on both obstacles and takes the final spot to the Burton European Open, joining Sam Cullum and Ed Gunn from the previous Black Metal events. These guys will head out the European Open held in Laax from the 15th-22nd January where they will take a spot in the rookie slopestyle qualifications, with Burton hooking up their accommodation, tickets, and party passes. Check out www.burtoneuropeanopen.com for further info. Congratulations to all three, and we wish them well.

Congratulations also go to Billy who took home the holiday courtesy of the guys at Dragon Lodge, he gets a week away for two at the Dragon Lodge in Tignes.

The Burton Black Metal rails have come to rest at Tamworth where they will be a regular feature on the snowboard nights, thanks to Gary and crew for all their effort on the night. Special thanks to everyone that has supported the Burton Black Metal events, the riders for giving it their all, Hamish and Burton crew for their energies and efforts, TSA for transporting the rails, Satan for the music and Tim for his amazing efforts on the mike. We hope to see you all next year. Burton Black Metal Crew. Listen to Black Metal.

The Burton Black Metal Rail Jam event page can be administered by dunx (Dunx), stu (Stu Brass), spencer (Spencer Claridge) and office (Office).
