![]() Artificial British Slope Style Championships plus Boarder/Skier X, Halfpipe Jam Session.
Britain’s top snowboarders and skiers will descend on Sheffield Ski Village over the weekend of 23rd and 24th October to compete in the Orange AIM Series, in association with O’Neill, National Artificial Slopestyle Championships, combined with a skier/boardercross and halfpipe competition. The Slopestyle course will consist of moguls at the top of the course making way for the only artificial half pipe with an option of a small cliff drop. Then on to either the quarter pipe or the big air jump and the last features will be the demanding 7 metre flat to down rail, and 4 metre double tubed rail supplied by the Orange AIM series to impress Britain’s top Snowboard and Freestyle Ski Judges. Local rider, Stu Edwards, will put his smooth style to the test defending his current title of British Artificial Slopestyle Champion, gained at Midlothian Ski Centre in 2003. Tom Bridges and Katie Young, also Ski Village regulars, will be attending the snowboard competition on Saturday as boardercross favourites and to defend their titles as Artifical Half Pipe Champions. As per requests from regular Orange AIM Series competitors the halfpipe competition will be run in a jam format to ease the pressure from riders who prefer a more relaxed competition. British Freestyle Ski Team member Andy Bennett will be battling it out in Sunday’s ski competition against regular podium buddies Eddie Thelwell and Paddy Graham for the Artificial Freestyle Ski Slopestyle Champion’s title. These boys have combined friendship and workmanship with style and competitiveness to form the KneeSall Massive (KSM) and have thus far dominated the Orange AIM series by stepping up the level of riding in the UK. To support the growth of snow sports in Sheffield and to continue the success from the earlier Orange AIM events this summer, 200 free O’Neill Snowboard and Trespass ski beginner lessons will be given away to the public. Beginners should register on www.orangeaimseries.com to secure a one hour lesson with a qualified instructor, equipment hire and an Orange AIM Series goody bag.
