Indoor British Slope Style Championships, plus Boarder/Skier X.
This event is a qualifier for the Red Bull Rail Storm. Britain’s top snowboarders and freestyle skiers will descend on Xscape, Castleford on the 4th September to compete in the Orange AIM Series, in association with O’Neill, Indoor Slopestyle Championships. Slopestyle is one of the most preferred disciplines in modern snowsports, where attitude and style is just as important as your technical ability. At Xscape, Castleford, a championship course of obstacles, including various shaped rails, pipes and boxes will be purposely built to accommodate the 150+ competitors that will arrive from all over the UK. The competitors must perform a variation of tricks back to back, including jumps, rotations and slides, utilising as many obstacles as possible. Local talent such as skier and British Slopestyle Champion Mike Wakefield, Hemsworth, will battle it out for the indoor champion’s title and impress both judges and spectators. Through an initiative to get more people into snowsports, the public is offered 200 FREE O’Neill snowboard and Trespass ski beginner lessons through out the Saturday. To secure a one hour lesson with a qualified instructor, equipment hire and an Orange AIM Series goody bag, registration can be done on the day or by calling 07891 607 053. First come first serve!
