To add to my enjoyment the office at work confirmed 27 days holiday left to take before July.= Result. So i will be looking at some weekend/ 4 day breaks. Fly out at stupid o clock on Thursday, back Sun evening 7 ish. Might stay in The Formula1 in Annecy asits soooo cheap.
Will keep an eye on powder levels , and snow depths.
Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear.

It looks like as usual I am "kiss of death" and the forecast dumps earlier this week went every where appart from Montgenevre which it seemed to miss almost in its entirity.

I think there was some, but a realtively small amount. It seems the base levels are still very low and theres still between a third and a half of the runs closed.

Nothing particular forecast for the next 6 days either.

I've already bought my pass for next week Sun-Weds (covering Montgenevre & Monts da Lune).

Does anyone know if this gets a discount anywhere else - Ser Che maybe ?

Cheers

G

Just found out that as well as Claviere which is in my pass price, i can up to a full milky way pass for 15eur a day. Maybe thats worth it for one of the days - go and check out sauze or sestriere.

Is there a bus service from Monte or would i have to slug my way over the lift links - i've heard it can be a rather slow and laborious process getting across (by which time you have to turn round and come back) ?

Damn right ! If theres a snow flake and a hill, then rest assured I'll pointing down it with a huge grin plastered all over my face !!!!
Can't wait !

From the forecasts I think im consigned to the fact that its going to be hard packed piste riding. Either way, I'll be boarding, which is the main thing Smile

Got my second chance at powder in March- hitting vallandry/les arcs for a week.

I got back from a 3-day trip to Slovenia last weekend.

Booked it all independently.

Stayed in a great house in Bohinj Bistrica and boarded in Vogel 2 days.

Vogel's a great resort for a couple of days and has a good park with a good assortment of rails and kickers.

If you're interested:

Flights (Easyjet to Ljubljana): £31 (£51 if you take your board)

Transfer to house (about 50 mins):
I used taxi.laguna@siol.net (Natasha) and it cost 400 euro return (bear in mind there were 20 of us and so was only 20 euro each).

House itself was fantastic. Owned by Anton, it was only 120 euro per night and sleeps up to 13 (the others in the group stayed in a hotel). http://www.threehead.com/

The house is about 12 kms from Vogel, but taxis are reliable and cheap, so was easier than if we were 1km from the slopes!

Lift pass was less than £30 for 2 days at Vogel.

So all in, the holiday (incl. flights, transfer, accomm and lift pass) was about £110 all in. Can't get much cheaper than that! Oh and the beer and food's cheap too. I suppose the only downer would be the comparative lack of night life, and there is always the 'Allo 'Allo bar (complete with picture of Rene on the bog door!). But the house has TV, DVD and stereo, so we just got the beers in and had a laugh.

That's how I did it, but try http://www.bohinj.si/novice_en.html
That was my starting point.

Or try Kranska Gora ( I went there last year): http://www.kranjska-gora.si/index.php?l=3

Dunno if that helps, but good luck. If you put in a bit of effort, it's well worth it, and Slovenians are cool and friendly.

Cheers

Brad
