Gotta say in the last 3 years of being a scuk member the discount I have had have far outweighted the cost of the membership.
Like people say it really comes into its own on slopes and booking accomodation abroad. |

We always want more members because it gives us more power in the market place.
One way of doing this is to hear from existing members about their experiences of joining the Club. We're talking about the pros and cons of Snowboard Club UK Membership here, not the forum or other stuff on the site that non-members can get to anyway.
- f you got a good saving somewhere let people know.
- If you didn't think much of the Membership Pack, tell people.
- If you'd recommend us, tell people why.
- If you'd never join again, then why?
We're after lots of comments, so people can come on and see whether it would be good for them.
Please keep this one very much on topic
OK so here it is.....
Having been a member for 3 years now, I am slightly dubious this time around about renewing my membership... Basically all the discounts that are promised from becoming a member you basically have to argue for, even at MK! Where they should know!
But most of the shops etc. your supposed to receive discounts for say they have no idea what your talking about, and in TSA a couple of weeks ago I was told that I was supposed to produce vouchers for the discounted rental sessions! So I give up, why on earth shall I renew?
I can still use the site without being a member and still have all the same friends, but if being a member means having to have an argument with a manager every time I wanna use my discount, or just being told that I can get a refund if I pay full price at the time and then I never get the refund anyway....
I am feeling a little peturbed and wanna know if its worth my while or not!

im about to get my first membership (10% off insurance saves me £15 for my trip which makes membership £15) i want the whitelines and a DVD and maybe Beanie.... that pretty much pays for my membership... will be interested to try and use the discounts judging by the above comments...
i just had an idea for you though while reading that maybe renewing members could get more options for example 2 magazines... after 3 years maybe a full subscription? and hoodies for free after 3 or 4 years or something? a bit like a ladder... just a thought but i like the community on the forums for helping out and am looking forward to joining! |

I have just got my first membership recently, and it has already saved me twice what I paid for it with online discount when I got my setup from the guys at Pro Freeze, so value-for-money wise it's already proved itself.
It has been good news to read here the issues still with getting advertised discounts at places (especially in xscape which is where I am going now) so that I am aware for the future if I encounter it.
If the discounts have been long-standing does SCUK communicate this out regularly to those that participate? If it hasn't happened for a while then maybe it just needs to be re-iterated? Although staff turnover in some retail environments can be quite high so maybe it's not SCUK at all and maybe the issue is at the other end? (experience coming from an extensive retail background).
Overall though I am still pleased with the membership, and the obvious great community that is shown on the site! |

I definitely second the membership paying for itself - the wife and I signed up in Jan and we have more than made our money back on discounts at Cas, online discounts and the 10% off at TSA voucher (got Mrs R nearly £50 off her board and bindings.)
The discounts make it a no-brainer really and of course there is the added bonus of tapping in to the knowledge of all the other forum users (or amusing smut in the case of some members.... )
Keep up the good work! |

I'd like to point out a bad side to joining SCUK..
Membership gets you loads and loads of great discounts on tonnes of fab gear. This is seriously bad for my wallet

| Forth Year as a member. When I first joined has some issues with xscape Cas re discounts but don't have any problems anymore. Saved a fortune but keep buying stuff so all I save goes on new gear. Got my brother and friends to join and they love it to. |

I've only recently become a member of the club. From seeing what it provides I would say there is tons of good to come from it and you get your money back.
One of the main reasons for me joining was the 20% off slope time at Cas. Not used it yet as I'm still training to snowboard but is it still a massive issue with them accepting SCUK members discounts? I don't want to have to call for a manager everytime I go somewhere so I hope somehow it got sorted out. I currently don't have my membership pack as I'm waiting for it to be sent out but iit would be easier if there was a barcode on the card which they can just scan and on there system it would say the discount we are entilted to?
I'm happy to be a member at such a cheap price too.
If it was barcode related then would it be possible to get discounts from within stores like BillaBong and places like that if you guys could sort out agreements.
I don't know how it works for the 20% discount at the moment but I assume you just have to show them the card and expect your discount? |

| I haven't had a problem getting the discount at Cas for ages. Just show them the card and you're good to go. Remember it doesn't apply to lessons or special events though. |

something like 8x2 hour Friday freestyle lessons covers the cost of SCUK and Hemel membership. Easily doable! |

What are the special events though? Care to give an example?
I assume if I ever turned up bang on 8 then iit should be a discount providing there isn't any freestyle or competitions going on? |
