22 Post subject: What's good and bad about joining Snowboard Club UK?  PostPosted: Jan 12, 2006 - 03:39 PM

We always want more members because it gives us more power in the market place.

One way of doing this is to hear from existing members about their experiences of joining the Club. We're talking about the pros and cons of Snowboard Club UK Membership here, not the forum or other stuff on the site that non-members can get to anyway.

  • f you got a good saving somewhere let people know.
  • If you didn't think much of the Membership Pack, tell people.
  • If you'd recommend us, tell people why.
  • If you'd never join again, then why?

We're after lots of comments, so people can come on and see whether it would be good for them.

Please keep this one very much on topic Smile

I've spoke to a few people and half their family ski and half their family board, they're interested in becoming members but don't want a family membership because of the fact they ski. Are you even aloud to become a member if you ski?! Other than that, everyone i've spoke to are really interested in joining as their sick of boarding on their own.

since becoming a member i've saved money on buying new 32 boots, trips to the snowdome and insurance.

i paid £30 to become a member and was given £100 worth of stuff back i think that's value for money.

I think the major coup is the Xscape discount. I'm probably not going to save as much as I did the first year I joined though - and I'm not sure I'll need another beanie for year 3. More gift variation would be good but I appreciate it's difficult to get suitable stuff in - board tool maybe?
It woud be nice if the insurance could be web based. Reason I didn't get a SCUK again was because of that; realised 1 day before I was heading off that my insurance was running out so had to do a net one quick sharp. I guess that's out of your hands with it being through TAG though - might be worth getting them to send out reminder e-mails letters a few weeks before annual insurances run out though. I know I'm not the only person who has realised last minute.
I still thinks it's a good package that's been put together but the benefits probably lessen after the second year. Mind you if I go with one of the independant holiday companies that'll save me most of membership alone!
Just realised that I didn't see an SUK mag this year - probably not the best time to mention that with all you guys heading of too France soon!

Def worth it. Member 3 1/2 months and got more than cost of membership in value already. I agree with D219 though that 2nd yr membership should get different gifts.

My thinking was that the cost of it is less than the free sessions alone so it's like you're getting a free dvd, t-shirt etc. for riding.

But I'd still go for 3000 cola bottles any day

You would not believe how difficult it is proving getting discounts from the Scottish. On second thoughts perhaps you will...

We're looking at jazzing up the membership pack right now. The boys are at Soltex seeing what they can come up with.

For me the apeal was the value of the pack. In the 1st year it was great value.
But probably even better in the 2nd with the Xscape discount. I really joined again for that reason.

I did get a whole load of new stickers, beanie and another Dropstich (my 4th) DVD, Not sure if I was meant to get a Tshirt in the pack, but didnt. But still great value for money.

Maybe mix it up a bit for the 2nd years subscription.

Would like to see a way you could sign up a friend as a gift or something, as its a perfect present too.

Also how about offering Xscape Discount to 1st years but at a premium price ?

Just a few thorts

Half-price membership at Tam clinched it for me. Loved the DVD (Futureproof?) and the current Mrs J nicked the beanie. Just saved a packet on my trip to the Riders Retreat in Serre Che in April. If you CAN take advantage of the discounts then it makes incredible sense to be a member.
