no i disagree it doesn't mean it will snow.
if your lucky you'll get snow before you get the arctic conditions which will then keep the snow.
but if it just gets cold, and i mean really cold, your likely to have a bitterly cold winter without the nice white fluffy stuff to make it enjoyable!
at least over hear if its bitterly cold with no snow they can snow make. I'm pretty glad i'll be missing winter in the uk this year |

Unfortunately I'm with SnowAngel on this (but not in the same country unfortunately).
It might not be a good snow year, the MET are just saying it will be cold.
On the other hand, in Scotland the problem we usually have is that the overnight snow melts before it can form a base, so if the MET are right and it snows, we should keep the snow due to the temp.
But those are a lot of if's, let's keep our hopes up but a snowy winter is something we hope for in Scotland every year, so we're used to the disapointment. |

I wouldn't want to predict next weeks weather in this country, let alone months ahead (what's going on with the sunshine etc today when we had rain and high winds yesterday).
The one bit of info in there that fills me with a bit of confidence is that the cold weather is expected to affect most of europe - which may mean that the weeks away this winter are going to be damn fine. |
