Hi, I have managed to persuade my other half into snowboarding and she's looking to get her first setup.
Been looking around for a decent deal and found the usual Raven, Screw etc but I would rather go with an established make. I ride a Libtech but they're a bit pricey for her, especially as she's a beginner.
Looking on ebay I notice that Technine setups can be had pretty reasonably but their stupid tall-tee gangster hard-ass image has completely ruined their appeal for me.
However, I'm not going to pass on my prejudice to her and if they are actually good boards and she likes one I'll totally go for it. So are Technine actually a good company, does anyone here ride their stuff, and what is the general opinion?
Cheers!
EDIT: Also if anyone cares to quickly weigh in with their collected knowledge on Screw/Raven/Sapient. Far as I see on here they are fine but you get what you pay for, nothing special but not a waste of money. Screw would appear to be the cheapest with Raven/Sapient being fairly comparable. |

i have been teaching on a technine enforcer for about a year.
its had just about the hardest life a board could have i think, is in use around 60 hrs a week, every week (lots of that is just sideslip demo's of course) its been on the feet of about a 1000 people and battered by other boards, ski's and assorted noobs.
still going strong.
on the negative side. the mfm bindings i had a few yrs ago where the worst built bindings i ever had. they fell apart in a few months. |

I've got two Technine boards (MFM Pro & Mass Appeal) from a few seasons back when onelove was the UK distro
As mini said, they are hard wearing and as well made as any of the other 'named' brands.
The pro models are made in the Elan factory (Capita, Arbor, Rome, Bataleon, Nitro, Lobster, Artec, Dinosaurs Will Die, Academy, Allian, and Amplid)
whilst the non-pro's are made in china... but the quality is equally as good and the pricetag a bit less.
The bindings are hit and miss, my street pro's are great and have lasted really well, my MFM's are a bit of a pain with regards to screws coming loose... however provided you go around with the loctite before you start riding to far.. all is good
embarce your inner gangsta!! they get a slagging for it, but it's a niche and T9 fill it.... it doesn't mean you have to hang around sheffield with mini dropping bloods and cribs with your gat!!
and to be fair the likes of Bradshaw are more hippy than gangsta so they have calmed it down a bit |

All the non pro technine models we have are made in the nobile factory in Europe. The reason you can find good deals on them is because the brand had distribution issues a couple of years back and there was a backlog of the boards, all of them got picked up by someone else and he has been selling them ever since. They are great boards and an absolute bargain. Not that a board being made in China is a huge issue in terms of quality any more. The Ride Machete is made in China I believe. As are most of the Ride boards? And K2?
If reverse camber is your thing, The technine range from that year is very limited as the majority are positive camber but the enforcer is a very bendy rocker board. |

I was in the same boat and got my Mrs a Raven Explosive off Angry Donkeys. Its camber and its well made. Got a soft enough flex for her to learn on without just being soft.
I got just the board and managed to pick up a brand new pair of burton stilettos for 30quid in the summer rather than buy the bindings as they didnt look too good. |

| The mid range raven bindings are better than the high end ones I think. Though next season they have upped their game considerably with them and they are the same as Endeavors Bindings but for around half the price! |

| not sure what country you guys are posting from but to the best of my knowledge Technine are not distributed in the UK. We ordered a load of Technine boards and bindings for the 2011/12 season but Technine never delivered them. They never told us they were not going to deliver them either - so we had a lot of quite rightly upset customers who had placed pre-orders for the new season stock. We did not order any for this winter because of this. |

Ian(oneloveofboardsports) distributed them via Jackel and then on his own until he had 'issues' with brandbase a few years back, he had a tidy little team with Scotty Penman, Will Smith and John Feesch W. until it went wrong.
they then went a bit quiet, and last year ilevel sports took them over but, as you say don't seem to of done much with them.
they always seem to be available on fleabay from germany though, Blue Twatmatoe etc
plenty of other brands about though, at great prices and available to see in shops. |

Andy angry donkeys got hold of a few boards last yr
We basically found someone with 1500 of them sat in a warehouse! Seems like the Distro problem they had was fairly serious! We bouhgt as many as we could afford at the time and we still get them in from time to time. |
