im currently sat at home with a sprained wrist rather than being at my local fridge for a freestyle night session.
This is my first year back on my board due to being broke for about as long as I can remember.
I went to Avoriaz in March with a group of mates and since then have not stopped pining for snow!
Im watching Snowboard DVDs every night and cant stop reading threads and articles all day at work.
Am I on my own? what, if anything can I do to feed my renewed addiction without spending all my dosh everyweek at the snowdome.
Please help!!  lol |

Kind of a simliar story - learned to board when living & working in Scotland, moved back dahn sarf and thought the drive to MK would be too much hassle, and didn't realise Hemel existed...
Realised the drive to either wasn't too bad at the beginning of this year and started going pretty much every week. Only problem being that I thought I trapped a nerve in my back a couple of months ago whilst boarding, then found out a month later (during an unexpected trip to A&E) that I'd actually slipped a disc
Only managing to get up there now as and when my back's not feeling too bad, and lying to my physio about going 
Was hoping to get a couple of holidays in this coming season as I've never been on a mountain, but can't think too far ahead until my back's better.....
Worse thing is that I can't wait to get myself booked into a Maverix Boxes & Rails session |

| You're certainly not alone. I snapped my right achilles last October and had to sit at home this winter while my mates went skiing and boarding enjoying the best snow in years. On top of that I've also had to miss the start of the sailing season and tonight I finally get back on a boat for the first time in 9 months. On the plus side I'll be so happy to be back on the water that I won't notice it pissing with rain all weekend! |

God I havent sailed for months, but yer your right at least you notice the rain as much unless you have a complete white out... seriously not fun!!
Im supposedto to playing in a charity golf event with my dad tomorrow too, guess Ill just have to prop up the bar instead of walking around a soggy field for four hours in the rain!! ... o well! 
Luke, you should think about coming on the SCUK Winter Bash in January if your back is up to it. I've already pencilled the time off work, just need to work out how to tell the Mrs. that Im going on 2 snowboarding hols next year! 
Let me know if you book onto a Maverix course, Im looking at going on the whole day course at Hemel in August, it would be good to head along with someone else.
Does anyone have any tips or recommendations on howto practice and improve technique without actually being on a board? Ideally I would love to take my riding to a levle where I am comfortable pratting around on my board all over the mountain, small jibs, butters tail taps etc. Im not too fussed about hitting HUGE booters or ridiculous street rails.

Also does anyone know of any decent DVDs which sort of focus on pros just shredding around the mountains, pratting around on anything n everthing? what's the DC mountain lab like?

Have been looking at the Winter Bash, but might clash with a trip that my pal's trying to organise. Good luck with you missus by the way!!!
With regards to practise, you could always get one of the Maverix Jibber training aid - nice and cheap and they've got a guide to practicing tricks here http://www.maverix.org/jibber-trick-guides/. Only thing that's stopped me from getting one so far is that I know I'll not be able to stop myself from having a go and probably end up doing myself some more damage
Still a bit too early to know if my back's going to be up to it by August, but if it's looking likely I'll let you know about the all day course. |
