Hey mate, in my experience in similar situations (not snowboarding related), Its always better, not to mention good manners, to ask the establishment concerned. Most punters themselves probably wont care, but some may quiz you mostly out of curiosity. Hope it goes well, if you have any that are interesting feel free to share Smile

Think you would need the permission of the dome tbh as you'd be taking the photos in a privately owned venue - I would start by asking them, what's the harm? would be nothing worse than setting your gear up and being flung out!!!

Hi, I am down at Norwich fairly often. I've seen some people filming each other, but not often photographers. I would say check out http://www.norfolksnowsports.com/ and give them a ring on 01603 662781.

Monday and Thursday nights are probably the best nights for snowboarding. Thursday is freestyle night, and you get skiers there as well so you'd probably get good photos there. Haven't been down on a Thursday cos my freestyle skills are fairly basic! Monday night is a more general night although they often have rails and the kicker open as well, so some good skills are on show there then.

Do you go down on Monday nights?
I'm going up there on the 2nd to sort out some supervised slope time, then they might let me loose on my own.
Once I've been signed off I'll be going up the a couple of Mondays a month, would be good to meet some SCUK members Smile

I haven't the last couple of Mondays, but I should be there fairly regularly. I'm a big guy with a beard and a camo helmet so probably fairly easy to spot!

That all depends on how well your helmet camouflages you Wink

What they said. If you have a decent camera then sometimes the slope owners get snotty, and they do have the right to stop you in general because they're mostly on private land.

If you're shooting people you don't know then obviously be prepared to be asked about it, although most people don't mind (if they do, don't shoot them).

You may want to think about your safety a bit - you're going to be stationary for stills at least, and you don't want to get hit. If you're shooting good riders you know then that's not much of an issue, but many amateurs won't know how to ride safely with a photographer, and it's your risk. You may want to think about wearing something reflective so you're easy to spot.

Be ready for people to ask where they can get these pictures of yours. People may not want to pay for them, but I think the main thing in snowboarding is to network yourself and get regular friends who ride.
