So previous bashes we've worked out...
Chalets are a better option for people.
Half-Board is most deffinately a needed option.
A blue run into town is much needed.
Coach travel from the UK for those who like to get to know each other over a well extended period lol.
More group activities (possibly organised from the regular bashers, as Dunx seems to bugger off.
ABSOLUTELY NO ski/snowboard holiday reps.
Move it back to 3rd week of Jan when the majority of our birthdays are so we can avoid our annoying families and actually celebrate it with friends. |

| To be fair to Chris, he did a good job. I think it was the company he worked for that were the issue. |

From what i seen, he did a good job, tho he is most definitely suited to the student crowd. Our group isn't a bunch of students looking for a quick trip to the mountains with a piss up and we want value and quality for our money. a few things could have been handled better |

I wasn't going to respond directly to this, but I changed my mind.
Chalets: The only year we were all in chalets was a free upgrade. It's generally not a cheap option.
Half board: I personally think Austria was so much better with no HB. We would have eaten with the same people every night otherwise and eating out was cheap.
Coach: Was okay (from one who was on it), apart from the planning and traffic delays. It's a good option, but I'm not sure we'd do it again as we lost £heaps.
Group Activities: Do you really need people to tell you what to do every night? I hope not. We do things on two nights (and we did have the toboggan party planned, but nobody wanted to do that). Suggestions welcome though.
Reps: Might not have been useful for you, but bloody useful for me for sorting out issues in resort, getting lift passes, liaising with bars, checking on injured and sorting out transfers.
Date: It will generally be in late Jan to keep it away from the Brits.
So, serious suggestions for next year. I'm currently leaning back towards Tignes or Avoriaz/Morzine, but thought Austria was very easy in terms of distance from Munich and prices generally. I don't think there's a group travel company that can do what we need them to do and in-resort chalet partners find it too much. We need a really good half-way house. Somewhere new perhaps? The two people who were really keen on Austria last year, didn't actually come on the Bash! |

Can only comment from my own experiance, so here go's
Outgoing - For me everything was as I expected it to be or better, booked the 2* expecting very little and to be fair the Panarama was excellent. The only problem we had was on the transfer back, which noone could have predicted, and our bus driver was pretty epic in managing to get us there in time.
Chris, Only really had one question for him which was where to get my board waxed and he took me to a place which wasnt the obvious choice but did a cracking job for a good price, Other than that he was always up for a laugh and joined in with us. Bit of a light weight on the drinking front but he did bring a couple of subs along in Julia and Olli who made up for his early nights and gave us a couple of skiers to ridicule
Dunx i agree totally on the Challet option, whilst I have done chalets on many occassions they only really work if the whole of your party are in the same one. And you dont get to see much of the resort. I did mayrhofen last year in a challet and bearly got out in the town.
Maverix coaching was awesome as usuall, but then you reckon i am a Maverix whore so you would expect me to say that.
SCUK organision was excellent, I thought just enough organised events to bring everyone together. (did I mention that we won the quiz
But what really made the whole week was the group of people. I think pretty much everyone was up for having a good week of boarding and a few beers.
Thanks dunx for putting together a great week both on and off piste and look forward to the details for next year wherever they are. Just need to start working on getting a passout from the other half. ! |
