| You will love it. We went last March and it so good. We are heading back out again this year. The park is awesome and the ice bar was good awesome for apres-ski 3 euros a pint. So much better value than France. |

Went to St Anton last year can't fault the resort or the hill.
We thought it was cheaper than French resorts of a similar quality in terms of beer/food.
Off to Mayrhofen this year after considering it and Ischgl (we seen/heard Ischgl was kinda pricey) and we're looking forward to it.
I quite fancy trying a couple of the other bigger areas but there are a few small areas around Austria so make sure you check out the area before you choose somewhere.
We found Austria a pleasant break from France which seems to be the default choice for a lot of folks. |

I've since tried the alps and been on a dry slope (dendix, i think it was) once.

Kirchberg is good
I know off a little hostel there it's amazing and very cheap. the owner is a top bloke and they arrange the transfers as well.
Also if you want to cut down the cost and don't mind loosing time on the piste he does weekends too.
Alpenrider is the name to look for. |

| Got back from Kaprun 3 weeks ago, amazing place. The glacier is great for all levels. If you want a bit of nightlife stay in Zell and get the bus to the gondolas. Looking at going again soon. |

I was in Ischgl last season, in early March. Despite the poor season last year there was plenty of snow, and most if not all the runs were open. I couldn't fault the ski area -- it's really varied, with some nice off-piste. It's also easy to jump on a free bus down the road to Galtur for almost empty pistes and a nice view of the lake.
The nightlife is pretty intense, too. Most of the bars are centred around the main gondola station in the middle of the town. It can be seen as a bit tacky, though -- there are a couple of stripbars but these are easy to avoid.
The main thing is the price -- it's very similar to St Anton in that regard. But, to be honest, if I had to pay the same to go to either Ischgl or St Anton I'd go to St Anton -- the off-piste is amazing, and with Lech/Zurs up the road there's so much skiing to do. Apres is pretty immense, too -- Mooserwirt is the place to go!
I was in Mayrhofen in January this year and was really impressed. The apres is just as good as St Anton/Ischgl, but it's much cheaper. The pistes are quite varied -- and with Hintertux and Zell am Ziller included on your liftpass there's loads to do.
Also, you can enter your liftpass number into www.skiline.cc and see the runs/lifts you took, and it compares you to everyone else in the resort. On one of the days we were in Hintertux, we were in the top 16% of all skiers for the amount of vertical covered -- it felt like it too |
