Being a Bash Virgin I'm curious how you work out who boards together - I'm sure all 40 or so don't stick together but do people just naturally split off into groups?
Anyway, as this will be my fourth time away (with not a great deal of experience in between) I was wondering if there are many others going at a similar level?

| Most people just seem to split off into smaller groups either people they know from previous scuk bash's or the people they drank with the night before or traveled with. |

I'm probably around the same level as you John. First time away (unless you count Scotland) and a fair bit of experience in the fridge. I reckon I'll probably want to take it steady the first day and see what my capabilities are on the mountain. There seems to be plenty of Blues up on Ahorn, with the Red "Bash Dash" route back down to town to test myself with afterwards. I think I will be spending Sunday morning up there to start with, you're welcome to join me!

| The top of Ahorn is just one big wide blue run, perfect for finding your feet on. The blues on Penken are horrible, we got warned off them by the Crystal reps when we went 2 years ago-they're mostlly narrow, lots of flat sections and very twisty/turney. The reds on Penken are pretty forgiving though. |

Sounds good. I'd actually hoped to do the Ahorn on the first day too - for the blue runs and because that's the only area I've not done from Mayrhofen before.
The last two times ive been i found my feet on the blue 8 on Penken which is good but short and the only way to it is via the blue runs that jxrazor describes.
My favourite runs we're i think the red 7 and 27 from the top of Horberg - wide and long.... So to speak! |

| The first few days aare spent riding with people u know or single noobie riders getting together but generally later towards the week, there iis a slight progression from the beginners so they want tto join with the more advanced riders and they in turn slow down for the company and have arelaxed fun time so u should bbe able to get rride with 90% of people during the week. The other 10% are thos wwho bugger off in the ungodly times in the morning and dont come bback til early evening, plus those who are injured on day 1. |

I'm an intermediate boarder, want to learn a few tricks this year but on the whole take it pretty easy on the slopes but can pick up the pace when I need to.
Only 2.5 sleeps to go, as up really early sat morning which is technically not a full sleep.
Suppose I had better start thinking of packing a few things. |

I completely have the intention of being ready for the lifts opening every morning, and getting the last lift back every evening. In reality, I think alcohol will eventually get the better of me and scupper my plans. I hope I don't have to resort to digging myself a little hole in the snow to be sick in like I did one morning in Glenshee last year. It's probably a bit of a stretch to expect to ride all day, every day anyway. Even with no drinking involved. Just as long as that dreaded "I"-word doesn't stop me, I'll be happy as Larry. |

| Sounds good to me.. I don't sleep for long so I'll be eager to get out there. Saying that I'm not used to exercise so things may change after day 1! |
