Post subject: weird heel lift!

i'm quite new to this lark,and when riding toe edge my heels feel like they're lifting in my boots(like im on tiptoes just to stay on edge!)
this is despite my boots(which are snug)and bindings being done up tight enough to make my eyeballs pop out.
is this to do with highback adjustment,or am i just pish?
heel edge is fine and turning bothways is fine,just traversin toe edge.
any comments welcomed  |

| sounds like a) the boots are too big or b) the boots are the wrong shape for you! I suppose footbeds would reduce the lift slightly if you get the heel stabilizer type.. |

I had real problems finding boots that stop my heel lifting. Same with walking boots as well. It's down to the shape of them and how they fit your shape of foot.
I'd agree with the above, boots may be snug but not for your foot shape. |

| Little bit of self adhesive foam rubber can work wonders. Search for J bars, but you can easily make your own. |

Sounds like a bit of boot issue & weak technique, you probably are on your toes, your legs are probably quite straight on the toe edge turn as well, as opposed to flexing your knees and ankles and rolling onto your toe edge.
If you are out of your bindings and you keep the boot sole flat on the ground, try flexing at the knees and get low, if with your boot flat your heel lifts excessively then your boots are the wrong width for your ankle, if this is the case you either were badly sold boots or you bought them because you liked the way they looked.
If you dont get much lift then its your technique that needs some work!  |

| I thought I had heel lift issues - but it turned ut i just needed to bend my knees more. This bends your ankles (not in a bad way) and your boot board and foot all move as one. |

cheers guys!
right,so i can take from this that my tight boots that have my toes touching the ends,may not fit very well round the ankles.some inserts may fix this.
also bending my knees a bit more and just working on my technique will benefit me.
thanks to all of you for helping a willing pupil!keep sliding.p.s.
should my highbacks by angled forward more, back more,or left alone! |

It was heel lift dude, not toe lift : )
Having more than 0 forward lean on your highbacks will definitely benefit your normal riding. It will make you aware when you don't bend your ankles (you'll feel pressure on your calves), which you will need to do to make skillful snowboarding happen.
Like everything in boarding, experiment with different angles and see what you like. |

people always come up with loads of hocus pocus like wrapping your foot in cling film thats been smeared in vaseline and marinated in balsamic vinegar overnight.
one that actually works which is never mentioned: move your heel strap back where it attaches to the binding so it pulls your ankle backwards, rather than downwards. dont forget to do both sides! |
