Despite my 'Really? Come on Shaun...' thread, im a massive fan of the man in zebra-tights (never thought id say that!) - thats why i started the thread, fear if having my hero fall apart infront of me and wanting a degree of comfort from fellow fans! haha
Still, i think his clothing style is so typical of him that i really liked it - he likes the stuff, so he wore it - its the same with the leather and stuff, he is a rockstar lets face it (as he loves all that stuff) so if he wants to dress like iggy pop then thats fine - interesting and slightly odd for a 25 year old, but fine haha.
In terms of his perfect 100, i was watching a live stream of xgames that was totally different from the one that you lot paid for, it was just some guy and Kevin Pierce talking to Paul Rodrigues about skateboarding and they literally talked over everyone elses run apart from Shaun's - other than when KP finally managed to break down some of the guys runs like his buddy Luke who didnt land a single run...
Why did they give it the perfect 100? Well, he goes higher and faster than anyone else - his average air is higher than most of the fields highest which is ridiculous and he landed a trick that had never been shown in competition before - it was because of its originality and difficulty after the Double McTwist 1260 had been landed to then recompose and go for it, especially after crashing. All the judges/commentators seem to have a sweet spot for him which i agree is wrong, but thats why they gave him the 100, not because it was flawless, its because it was new and unnecessary after he'd already claimed the win. Quite what he'll do next year i have no idea, even if he did back-to-back Double Mctwist 1260's/Double Cork 1260's in every possible direction he wouldnt better 100, so what is the point?
Another thing, i was paying pretty close attention to all the riders (drowing out 'p-rod' talking about skate-innovation) and i noticed that Shaun is the only rider who pops at the top of the lip, not a foot below it, and when he enters the pipe at the very start, he goes in WAY higher than anyone else, and cuts in at such a steep angle he gets sling-shotted up the other wall - which shows massive balls and core strength to hold that line, but if the other guys did that too, they'd get much more amplitude.
I need to be a pipe-jock coach. Where do i sign? haha :')
Editted to remove accidental skate-terminology when talking about the pipe

I thought the flying tomato's run was pretty good, but undeserving of a perfect score. I think he makes it look too easy, if that makes sense. I'm sure it would be much more impressive in the flesh. For a perfect score of 100 though, I'd expect a perfectly clean run. Maybe that's me just being anal, though I felt they all got a bit too excited in dishing out a 100.
That said I'm not really a big pipe fan anyway. I'd rather watch big air or slopestyle.
Can't say I really like Shaun's style (clothing) either, but fair play to him for wearing it if he likes it.
