Hey,
Just wondering if anyone's ever used these? Sick of gloves getting wet and have decided to try some gore-tex ones
It says their RRP's £70 (reduced to £40), which is probs exaggerated, but just wondering if anyone knew any more about them. No mention of taped seams etc combined with mention of a large logo (which would make the material more permeable if, I'd have thought) makes me a bit weary of how waterproof they'd be

Thanks

| They will be fine. If it says Gore-Tex on it it will be a bit more expensive but worth it. It doesn't matter hugely what they do to the fabric in the way of logos and seams, if it's Gore-Tex it's "Guaranteed to keep you dry" and all that shiz. |

To be honest with you, I've got Gore-Tex Level gloves and they get soaked anyway. You're probably better off with leather if you want a truely water-free experience, I think. Thinking of getting some myself.
Might just accept my hands are going to be wet and wearing winter wetsuit gloves |

| Its all about the seams, regardless of what theyre made of, if the seams leak you will get wet hands. Leather is a good bet though as I've never seen a cow leak and theyre pretty wet on the inside I imagine. |

| Leather isn't waterproof at all so buying leather gloves isn't a guarantee of them being waterproof. It depends on the lining and the treatment but I've had Goretex stuff in the past that's supposed to 'guarantee to keep you dry' but doesn't, so that's no guarantee either. The best gloves I've had for keeping your hands dry have been Gordini ones but they can be quite hard to find over here and expensive if you do find them |

I've never had trouble with gloves leaking. Gloves some times get a bit damp inside but that's just because when you're hands are warm no matter how breathable the outer it won't wick away all the sweat and some of the moisture from your hands will soak into the linings so they feel damp. At the end of the day I always pull the linings out or stick my gloves over a radiator so that the insides can dry. Key thing is that they just keep you warm!
Stitching logos into the material doesn't haven't any noticeable impact of the waterproofing. I've had sailing jackets with foot high embroidered logos on the back and they stayed waterproof even under water! |

Gloves can only keep you warm so long when they're wet. Sooner or later the water will take all the heat out of your hands and they get really cold. My gloves regularly freeze up in cold conditions on account of all the water they absorb - and it's not all from sweating. In fact the liners are quite often drier than the inside of the outer gloves when I take them off at the end of the day. Drives me mad - I just want warm, dry hands |

See this is what I originally though but my grenade trigger mitts would get soaked, then I dowsed the seams all the way round with nikwax and pretty much coated the gloves in the stuff and they have not leaked since. At all. |
