2 Post subject: Best Bars in Tignes? (and Tignes to Val D'Isere link...)  PostPosted: Jan 23, 2012 - 09:05 PM

Evening everyone.

Going to Tignes Friday (excited much?!) Smile with 4 lovely fellow single ladies, and in preparation I want to know where is best to head to in the evenings...

We're staying in Val Claret (UCPA) so ideally places we don't have to think about taxi's back from... do the buses run all night?

Also, want to take the girls over to Folie Douce one day, but we have 2 beginner skiers with us (3hours in MK pre holiday is all they've done) - how easy is it to get over to Val? I've had a look at the map, and it looks like we can do Aeroski up to Toviere, but from there can we get the blue creux run down to Folie Douce? And any ideas on how much for a cab back? (This will be the time I reckon we will need a cab!) haha

Thanks!!

D Smile

Folie Douce is only open in the afternoons when the lifts are running anyway so you wont be needing to get a cab back. Its up on the mountain so you need to ride home afterwards so it closes before dark. Run down there from Aeroski is easy blue and to get back you just need to get the lift back up to the Aeroski. From there its an easy blue Piste M down into Val C again. Run down into Le Lac is a hard icey olympic downhil run though. The nicest bars are in Le Lac as far as im concerned (Loop bar is a must) but Le Lac has some good ones too. It also has some clubs like Blue girl. Coulour is a good bar and always full of scandos. Dont go to the Grizly Bear bar unless you're prepared to remortgage your home for a demi beer. The bus around town runs all night, there are almost no taxis in town though.

Just got back from tignes on sat, we stayed in tignes le lac, the loop bar in le lac, is worth checking out, had a dj or Band most nights also tignes cuisine next door do spot on noodles, spring rolls and burritos!

FOlie douce is easy to get to cant remeber how we got there or back but it wasn't a mission, but don't stay to late or your looki at an expensive taxi ride back!

If you did want to ride down into Val Disere from the Folie its actually a harder run than back into Tignes Val C. The run into Val D doesn't actually go into the main town it goes into La Daille which is another village along from Val. Then you would need to get a bus into the main town to find a taxi. A taxi from there back to Val Clare is about a 30 minutes drive and you're talking about 80 euros at least. Its two valleys away and about 20 k distance around the mountain. As i say though theres no pont as Folie is an afternoon place.

Hey Hey.

Heading out to Le Lac on Saturday for a week with some mates. Give me a shout if you fancy a mini SCUK bash?

+1 for the Loop bar. I intend to be propping up the bar most nights Smile

Saloon in Val Claret is good, Loop is alright, TCs and Scottys in Lavachet are decent too if you want to venture down there..

Folie Douce is overrated and expensive, more of a gimmick than somewhere you'd go for a proper drink, but worth a visit.

You went to the wrong resort, Morzine isn't known as Manzine for nothing.
