Im planning a trip to Mayrhofen and its seemingly difficult to find any accomodation in Mayrhofen. I need to do this on a budget. Only one hotel is showing up on tripadvisor. And the others 10 kilomtetres plus away. seems a little too far for daily communte. I am planning to drive from Munich airport and if someone knows anything about parking in Mayrhofen that would be helpful too.
We are only doing a 3 day trip !!!
but getting excited at the prospect. Hardly a bad word said about the place.

Just back from Mayrhofen and to be honest as long as you choose a town on the bus or train routes you can get to the mountain pretty quick - e.g. staying just out of mayrhofen and getting the bus to the horbergbahn lift (just down road from Mayrhofen) will get you up to the top much quicker than queuing for the penkenbahn (mayrhofen lift). Also, free parking at the Horbergbahn lift station whereas you have to pay in Mayrhofen.
If you want to be in the thick of the apres-ski then you'll have to pay the extra to stay in mayrhofen itself.
i personally have mixed views about mayrhofen and I had a better ride in Zell Am Ziller but depends what you are after.

thanks, fairly unfamiliar with the whole mayrhofen region, i just know i wanna go!! lol planning on doing my research this coming week. so your pointers are appreciated. Having the apri-ski would be a bonus but not essential. So i guess driving and parking in horbergbahn is a vry good option.
