| Sunderland is meant to be getting planning permission for one, do the braehead owners plan on putting in a bid for building /running it? |

Hey there blackadder...
In your report.
PLEASE PLEASE suggest they figure out a way to improve the queue system when buying a slope time pass.
Its completely ridiculous waiting up to or more than 30 minutes to buy slope time..
I just fccked it off on one occasion.. (simply wasn't prepared to wait an hour to buy a ticket)
I mean how hard or expensive would it be to have some sort of ticket machines that dispense slope passes,
Maybe something not unlike the style of a cash machine or rail ticket machine..
The cost would be recouped in NO time once many of the surly staff were booted out on their arrogant asses..
...(to be fair many of the staff are fantastic.. many are NOT.!)
The remaining "good" staff could then deal with all the inane questions that hold every other user in a ludicrous queue..
Oh...while I'm on my high horse suggest they fix the fuggin lockers..
I've came close on many occasions to ripping the damn locker door off, after being robbed be three of them in succession..
.....(I can't be the only person this happens too.?)
As a final rant..
Suggest they DO NOT let those slalom ski club turkeys anywhere near the slope again with a cordless drill and a big fcck-off drill bit.
The snow is still gubbed due to these ass monkeys drilling into the cooling system to put in their slalom poles..
UNBELIEVABLE..
Rant Over.. |

They need to stop overselling tickets. The whole place can be packed out with both lifts operating.
On a related note, when one of the lifts breaks they need to be better at getting the other one up and running - or even having the staff to run it in the first place when it's busy.
Would go on about some membership scheme but frankly the first two points are more important. |

Here's some for you Blackadder
The Lockers, on a few occasions they've robbed me too.
Then there's the slope it's self, recently that problem with the coolant felt like velcro on the board instead of wax. it's better now but not great. also the last time I was up all the snow appeared to be at the sides and the bottom, with just ice right down the middle. I know it means more work for the staff, but def more attention to keeping the slope in better shape.
When it's busy get both lifts running and keep them running, none of us go there to stand in a line, we want to be on the slope as much as possable.
How about letting kids into the bar area later, there's been a few times I've been there I've wanted to get a beer and chill for a bit, but my son can't get in. as long as their accompanied by an adult what's the problem.
Now most of the staff do their job, and most of them do it with a smile, but their are a few that go about as if they are facing a death sentence. If any job got to me that much I would leave. Smile folks, have a laugh and a joke.
More freestyle for begginers, how about on a saturday night on the bunny slopes, just small kickers and box's. keep the friday for the experienced.
You did ask |

Its a pub. Licensing laws require all children to be out by 8pm, so its not really something they can change without altering the layout of the place (i.e. having a separate licensed area).

Thursday night is traditionally the rookie freestyle night, when the features are more suited towards beginners. |

Well have a seperate area, somewhere kids and adults can chill in comfortable suroundings.

The Thursday and the Friday night sessions are OK if you live within easy travelling distance, the problem I've got ( and I'm sure there are others) by the time I would finish work get home, get ready and travel to braehead the night is almost over. If they had something on at the weekend it would be easier
Just making some suggetions that would certainly make my experience of snowzone better, easier |

Fix the lockers: I've also been robbed on occasion. Either make them work or make the £1 returnable.
Better system for getting tickets: I dont think people mind waiting when its genuinely busy (I certainly dont), but on Friday it took 40 minutes to get through a queue of about 15 people, mainly because a few people had queries (about sledging or lessons) and took up a lot of the counter staffs time.
Maybe 1 queue for enquiries/sledging and the rest for slope time would be an idea. Also, its quite annoying when there are only 3 of the main desk tills open and theres 3 or 4 folk standing about at the hire desk waiting for people to get through the main queue. 1 or 2 could Alternate between hire and main desk at busy times to make the queue go faster particularly as most folk on a Friday have their own kit, or even stick a ticket machine at the hire desk.
Staff paying attention: I should qualify by saying I don't have any issues with the staff in general, certainly not like listed above, but on Friday night my mate and I got a funny one. We waited in the same queue, got to the front at 19:15, got served by 2 different people: His pass ended up saying "19:00 - 21:00" even though he didn't get served till 19:15 but the nice lady I saw updated mine to "19:20 - 21:20". Wasn't a problem in the end as no-one checked his pass, but it could have been.
Snow was a bit ropey on Friday, Ice pretty much right down the center. I've been off the board a while so cant comment on recent quality. I gather there must have been some coolant issues or something they are getting over. Generally when I was a regular I didn't have any problem with it, so may just be still getting over that.
Overall though (and I think this is an important point to make to them) Brahead are generally getting things right in my opinion, from the varied park nights and events to the price structure (weekdays/weekends).
Up till 5 months ago when I moved house (and got injured) I was there once a week and didn't/dont have any major complaints. In my opinion, a few wee tweaks here and there would improve an already good experience, rather than looking to make a bad one better.
No major surgery required in the main in my opinion. |

I'd like to see some sort of feature out on the slope every day, not just on the freestyle nights. When I go there with the family then the freestyle events don't really suit us all so we come along on one of the midweek deals but it gets pretty boring charging down the slope, an hour is about the most that we can handle before it gets too dull.
If there was a mini kicker, a small box rail or similar on the slope, then this would certainly help keep me (and the kids) interested, while the missus can stick to carving. |

Prices : almost had a heart attack when I went on a Saturday. I thought I had bought the place rather than a 2 hr session.... the difference between weekday and weekend is way too steep. Get some sort of season ticket or multi pass offers on the go and take the sting out. I reckon £24 for 2 hrs is sustainable at weekends.
Ticket issuing : get faster there. Get a machine like rail ticket you can use card in to print and FFS enable booking and printing of a ticket online. Even Glencoe (which I love to bits) let you do that and the poor sods there have to reconstruct the place every 5 mins due to storms.
Lifts : if it gets beyond moderately busy get the two going at once.
Marshalling : ok this is goign to sound rich as I fall on my ass at least once or twice a session as a complete newbie. I did though invest in a full day at Braehead followed by other lessons to make sure I could at least get down the thing without killing too many folk. 3 weeks ago we diverted to the zone due to winds at Coe and witnessed a couple of completely inept boarders and skiers who no way had passed level 4. Somebody needs to get onto these clowns before they hurt other folk.
Apart from that I love the palce and think the new owners obviously have the right idea. |

Is it possible to speed up one of the lifts, leave one for at current speed and make the other faster.
And as above, faster queue system, some sort of membership scheme, fix the snow and a couple of small features all the time. Kind of goes from one extreme on freestyle nights to nothing the other 5 days. |
