Hi everyone,

I've been roped into a Bansko trip next weekend, is it any good?
I get mixes reports from people, I have been warned to to tackle the long 6k flat descent back to the village and to hop on the last gondola down..................unless its hadpacked and I fancy my chances?
has anybody been recently and can tell me what to expect?

Dont get the gondola! The ride down is much better. It is pretty flat at the start but apart from that it's fine on a board as long as your not a complete beginner. I managed it and I'm far from being a pro.

As for Bansko as a whole, it depends what you're used to and what you're comparing it against. If it's a cheap weekend and you expect a cheap weekend then you'll have a great time.

Bansko is fine. The Gondola can be a bit of a downer first thing in the morning, but apart from that, its perfectly okay. The food in the Mehanae's (Mehanas?) is really good and the mountain is cool.

The 6km descent was one of my fave bits to be honest. Stick some good music on and flat base. Great fun.

I would be happily roped in to go snowboarding anywhere.

Were here at the moment doing a season with Ash & snowboard coach! The ski road is fun...record is 12 minutes 24 seconds at the moment from gondola down!

Really cheap and amazing food weve found especially the shopska or shepherds salad!!

went last year and had so much fun we're going back again this year. The run back to the town is great fun.

I know its impossible to predict but we're out there 2-10 March. Is the run back to town still likely to be open?
