I think the goggles a lot of wing suit pilots use are around £300-450 at a rough it was a while ago since I read up on it guess.
These goglols: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWfph3iNC-k
Basically the same principal just on the ground not in the air. Seeing altitude/speed etc would be awesome whilst all mountain boarding! |

| At least one of the America's Cup sailing teams has a pair of sunglasses for the guy on the wheel which include a head up display of speed, heading, etc. rather than him having to stare at a set of instruments mounted elsewhere on the boat. Admittedly he does have to carry a little rucksack which houses the hardware needed to receive and process the information! |

| Rubbish. Why bother. Spend the money on a holiday and download a free smartphone app. The extra week holiday will make you a better snowboarder, the goggles wont. |

| Yeah, gotta agree with Dashie, or spend the money on more lessons, or a coat, or beer, or give it to homeless people, but please god dont spend it on these!! |

Guessing the guys who will buy these goggles won't be scrabbling down the side of the sofa to fund their snowboard habit... |

My dad...a relativly new convert to snowboarding thinks theses are ace.....
but then he is also learning to ride switch(sort of) as he dosent like riding on his toe edge!
So instead of linking turns he is going to be doing to old falling leaf all the way dont the piste!
I think the goggles are daft....plus if your looking at how fast your are going on the little screen.....your not looking where your going at that speed! |

| I wouldnt worry much as the sort of length that buys these will be in Dicks T bar bragging of his 25mph jaunts over a snowball cocktail anyway. |

Lol Rob sounds like your old man and me have a lot in common. Just started boarding at 47 !!!! Everyone thinks I've lost it or having a mid life crisis, for me it's just the best buzz since I gave up my Hayabusa. |

They might have a rear view camera like a parking camera so he can see whats behind him when hes on his toes, no more facing the other way when riding switch |

Looks from the picture like its going to make riding at night look like riding in the day!
Tbh, the little screen this is an overpriced stepping stone to what is to come. Anyone know of that android app 'Layar' (augmented reality browser) - that is the future right there.
Next thing you know, they'll be goggles released with the ski-maps loaded onto them. Optional gps/track guidance and perhaps an option to make the nearest bar visible by a floating symbol above it - even if its way out of view.
Granted, on something small-scale like a ski resort it is pretty gimmicky as you'll find your way around within a day or so, but for in a city or something - augmented reality really is going to be massive. Soon youll be pushing your way through crowds of people, find yourself in an open bit of pavement and have to swipe a load of augmented objects out of your way to be able to see where you're going.
Oh the possibilities :') |

I love how we slowly think we need to know this kind of thing. My goggles already have a weather app built into them. If I look out through them i can see the weather.
I think the next worthwile google innovation will be some kind of image intensifier for nasty whiteout or low light days. In the meantime I'll stick to getting to the bottom of the hill, not caring about my vertical drop/top speedorwhateverleseiapparentlyneedtoknowtoenjoymyself, Hi5ing a random German and going and doing it again. |
