Hi, Has anyone been here recently? The prices are great but not sure if a) the runs are going to be enough for a week and b) there's enough apres entertainment to keep 10 blokes busy - although we're hardly party animals!!

Any advice would be welcomed. thanks

Bars are well cheap and plentiful in town (Liptovsky Mikulas). Three clubs should keep you happy. There isn't miles and miles of piste like the mega-resorts but there is a lot of varied terrain, off-piste options, trees, and terrain for all, from the best beginner slope anywhere to the extreme chutes of Freeride Zone 1.
Oh and ice-hockey, go-karts, hot springs water park are all evening options, and don't forget the famous attractive ladies ...

We've been riding nothing but powder since before Xmas!! A belter of a season so far...

Never too busy as the school holidays are spread over the month here; except for 11th-18th (British half-term) which is more than likely sold out everywhere. Snowfall is usually great in Feb, though of course I can't predict... This season so far the snowfall has been epic...

Get in touch with Paul at Propaganda! He'll make you sick with his reports of just how good it is out there at the minute...

He's on here, or on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/PropagandaSnowboard)

I've been trying to organise a return trip out there for months now but have to hope for snow in April now !!!

I was looking at Jasna and it looked pretty good, more to the point seems like great bang for your buck!

Dashie, how easy did you find it to get to from Scotland? easy enough? expensive?

I've been mailing Dan at Chalet Slovakia over the past couple of days about a trip at the start of March.

It all sounds really good (and Dan has been very helpful with my dumb questions).
Getting there cheaply from Scotland is proving to be the hard part.

RyanAir do flights on Sundays from Edinburgh to Bratislava for ~£60 return Thumbs Up

But then they want another £50 EACH WAY for your "sports equipment". Furious

How is it that 98kg of me can fly in a seat for £30, but 20kg of gear sat in the baggage hold costs £50??????

Edinburgh to Krakow with easyjet, no more expensive than an alps trip, think Propaganda are sorting the transfer at around 50euro a head rtn. Works out at 330 for 2 inc 2 suitcases and a boardbag.

Looked at options to Bratislava and then the train but because friends are travelling from Ireland theres no flight to Bratislava for them. Would have worked out roughly the same price inc an overnight cheap BnB in Bratislava for the night on the way there too.

If i was to go again the train would be first choice, just for the laugh and the night out in Bratislava too.

Thanks all.
It sounds like one worth considering then. I'm all booked up for this season but starting to make plans for the next for a party of around 10 - 14 with varied budgets and varied experience.
I've seen some other posts about Propaganda and checked out their site the other day which seem pretty good - sweet pictures! Looking at the dolomites too but again, i have no experience here having spent most of my time in France or Austria. Any recommendation for Italy would be much appreciated too.

thanks again

I picked Slovakia for the lift ticket.

I'm going with my GF and friends who wont ride all day every day. The pass gets you into the Spa so there is something for them to do in the afternoons while some of us are still out and about. I didnt see the point in a trip to an area with a 200euro+ lift ticket when she would only use 6 or so pistes.

Slovakia has 5 freeride zones too, the way I am looking at it is thats 5 of my mornings sorted with afternoons crusing with my GF and mates

The mrs and I were dying to go to Jasna but now we're booked for Bankso.

Hopefully, we can make it some time later.

I'd had a good chat on Skype with Propaganda and they were really helpful.

I know they're getting poop loads of snow right now and there's nothing happened in Bansko for a few days!....Sad

The Mrs and I were chuckling at this. Then it gave ma an idea.

Why not book an extra seat on the flight and carry the board bag on board? It'll work out cheaper and as board bags, when stood upright, are slim but tall, they should fit in RipoffAir's hand luggage size-checker contraptions! LOL! (Joking of course) Wink
