We went to the Cairngorms a year ago and stayed in Aviemore, which we found a tad boring in the evenings...couldn't even find a pub with a pool table
If we were to visit somewhere other than Cairngorms, where would you recommend for something a bit more lively? Nothing mental, just a pool table/juke box would be nice. |

Hmmm, it's about the best Scotlands got! We found a pool table, but not a Scotland expert so can't list names of the pubs I'm afraid!
Generally people say Fort William is the next best for nightlife but I found the place a little more intimidating than Aviemore. Generally the people in Aviemore are there for, or live off people visiting for mountain sports. Fort William is a real Scottish town and although we stayed out drinking till late (we had to, high winds had shut the hills) and had a scream, we did have the odd look over our shoulder every now and then!
Think we spent quite a lot of time in the Owl in Aviemore, did you try there? |

Loads of decents places to eat then have a few drinks. Maybe not nightclubs but more than enough to have some fun.
Winking Owl, Cairngorm hotel and ski'n'doo all good food and fun. |

| Had a few good nights out in Fort Bill, sure there was sometimes a few odd looks as its still a smallish town, coming from a small town myself im used to that. If you're at Glencoe, one possibility is to stay at the Clachaig Inn, its in the middle of nowhere but the bar is always packed and usually a live band playing at the weekend. |

Don't think you were looking hard enough mate
Aviemore has one club, The Vault, can't really miss it as the door is usually open and the bass reverbs down the street, its just up from the train station on the same side.
A few good bars as people have said, the Winking Owl, Cairngorm Hotel (amazing all you can eat buffet sometimes), Skiing Doo (great food and amazing selection of beer and cider!) and Cafe Mambo (which has a couple of pool tables and some arcade games I believe). Its all there, you just need to look.....
If its pool tables, jukeboxes etc you want in one place then stay in Newtonmore and frequent the Braeriach. |
